Hello there Magna Lovers,

I'm coming to you from the Lancer side of the Diamond. Long time reader, first time poster.

Recently I picked up a KM210 gearbox from the First Gen TN-TP Magna at a wreckers, but am having some problems. I'm currently rebuilding the 'box, but am not having any luck with getting an overhaul kit (i.e. bearings etc.). I don't have a VIN for the car it came from, so the stealerships can't seem to get me a price/availability and most places I phone seem to be a little confused as to why someone would want to overhaul this type of box...

Two questions, if I may:
(1) Does anyone know of a supplier for an overhaul kit for this 'box?
(2) Or, would someone be kind enough to be able to provide me with a VIN for a car that had this box; or, the details of Model Number/Chassis code etc so that the stealership can put it into CAPS?

Many thanks,
Greg

you take the bearings you need to a bearing supplier (yellow pages)
and they match up the numbers/size and type of the bearings

or ask at a gearbox repair shop to supply the bits

There is a gearbox rebuilder in Blacktown who has every gearbox ever made on his shelves waiting for someone that needs an exchange reco.
When I went there he has half a dozen KM132's (Sigma /Scorpion) on the shelves, which is just insane.

Cant remember the business name, but I wouldnt think there would be too many gearbox specialists in Blacktown

Thank you to all for your replies.

I've tried a couple of gearbox shops in Sydney, Tamworth and Brisbane and none of them seem to have any luck, but will try the gearbox mob in Bankstown.
I was hoping to get an overhaul kit because I need things like spacers and bearing retaining (snap) rings.

Cheers for the suggestion about car sales for a VIN, will give that a try.

Greg

some of the boxes were closely linked if not identical to Chrysler in the states and kits to rebuild the series are readily available from there to order as i looked into it on a tn box so do a Google search and download the pd f files and you,ll match up the box # easily
