Hi All,
This is my first time on this site and I hope you can help clear up this problem I think I have.
I have a 3 litre v6 magna auto 1994 tr.
When I select the ignition on and engine not running I can hear this vibrating
noise coming from the gearbox when any drive gear is selected eg Drive or Reverse.
I disconnected the plug under the air cleaner and the noise stopped.
This lead goes into the gearbox next to the kickdown servo cover.

Question is does anyone know what this wiring is for and is it normal for
this noise with engine not running.
PS I do not think the noise is there with engine running.
Any info would be much appreciated.
Regards Joe

The noise that you're hearing is the transmission's solenoids trying to select a gear in the valve body. It's totally normal - 1997-2005 Magnas make exactly the same noise.

The wiring harness that you've got is the connection between the solenoids and the transmission computer.
