Just spoke to a guy from some exhaust company here in Victoria, and he advised me against the Lukey AL4-5711.
He mentioned some generic 2.5" sports muffler including cat-back, resonator and tip for $242 fitted. Does anyone here reckon it's more sensible to shy away from Lukey, it seems most of you have it?

Did he mention why he didn't recommend it?
There's a few people on here that have it and they're happy with it.
I have the LR2779 on mine and I love it

it's not the best muffler money can buy but then again, for the money, i think it does the job fantastically. nice little growl and all the benefits of a high-flow muffler. of course you could get better material mufflers with better exhaust flow design but that means more $$$.

He didn't really mention any specific reason. He just basically said that "he knows better" than to use the Lukey.
I got quotes on the Lukey around $180-190 fitted, so the $242 isn't much more money, however, I was just curious as to whether he was just talking crap or if there is any basis on it.

i think "he knows better" is mechanic talk for "i make a better profit margin on the generic muffler and crap all on the lukey.

Hi TeQuilaChicken where are you located in Victoria?
I had a quote on a Generic Muffler and that was only $150 fitted.
Generic is usually cheaper than a Lukey or Something Branded.
Shop around.
or even call into Bursons and get a rear Redback Muffler for around the $170 - $180 mark and fit it yourself. Really easy to do.
Cheers

Also i forgot to add.
There is no need to change catback to rear muffler section as it is already a Madrel Bent System and if he was going to make a Generic setup it wont be Mandrel Bent just press bend piping.
So my opinion would be to only get the rear muffler changed, unless the centre section on your car has had it.

If he cant give you specific reasons then don't trust a word he says. That gives me the ****s when people do that.
He obviously makes more money from the generic.
There's plenty of happy Lukey owners here.

I live near the city in Victoria and have essentially just been shopping around near my place.
I sorta figured the guy might have been talking bs, as there are a bunch of you guys here have given decent testimonials for Lukey.
I wouldn't mind getting a Redback but I'm just not that confident of how to install it.
Thanks for the help guys.

I cant see any reason not to go with the Lukey.
I have it on my Ralliart and wouldnt have it any other way.
Nice sound and no drone. Not too loud and obtrusive either.
Good value for money.
