Hey guys, i was quickly putting some more oil into the car just before and a little bit of oil dripped down onto my manifolds. i quickly kept an eye on it with the extinguisher in close proximity incase something went up but it just smoked abit. I gotta go out in a few hours and i realise that i probs shouldn't leave the oil on the manifold, is there anything i can do to prevent it from doing anything that will later cause more trouble? or will it be gone by around 10ish?

should i wait for the engine to cool and get some de-greeser onto it?

cheers,
Presti

it'll just smoke and stink... then it'll just burn off after a tiny bit of driving...

Doesnt the degreaser have more of a likeliness of combusting then the oil does?

i just thought of it cause i use it to clean the garage floor/catch plate i have in the garage cause of the front of the engine slight leak :(

Nothing to worry about dude, synthetic motor oils have an extremely high flash point as its common for rocker cover leaks to leak onto the exhaust manifold, if they didn't have that flash point... It could be very bad :)

Dude you can cause some serious damage doing that, be more careful.

i was being careful, it happened as i lifted the funnel out and it slipped out just before the rag could get there lol

Dropping some oil is not an issue and the chance of it going up in flames is remote

The wagon I got from Syd had oil flowing onto the front manifold as some clown had broken the breather pipe off and just stuffed it back in the hole, it stunk, make tonnes of smoke but no fire
