Hey :)

Last week took the Magna in to get looked at because when I go over a bump, trainline or potholes,etc. my car has a loud 'knocking' sound from the front end and felt like it was going to bottom out. Immediately thought, yes my shocks are gone.

Got my shocks replaced and drove it and while not as bad still has a large (if not louder) 'thud' when I go over bumps etc. On the list of things on the service receipt to get done had the RHS lower control arm and D bushes. Get them done and steering feel is better however still the same thud.

My car if a TF advance on king springs, now has KYB shocks (unsure of what they were before, maybe factory?). Thud noise is only coming from front end.

Mechanic thinks it is because the car is lowered, however, my car has always been lowered and never used to have this loud noise.

Thanks =D

Yeah sounds like strut tops (beaing plates).

Fairly common.

You will pay about $90 to 100 each and your shocks need to come out to replace them.

Yeah it had factory shocks. Im surprised that they have given up the ghost so quick as i replaced them not long before you got it.

Did you get the mechanic to check the mounts of the K frame? That could be the issue. When i had it, it always seemed to make more suspension noise on the left side for some bizarre reason. I had it checked by my suspension bloke and he couldn't find a thing!

How many kays on it now Adz?

Hey mate,

I'll give him another call tomorrow because I was driving on a bumpy road today and it felt like I had no control at all, very bumpy and loud. If he says all is good I think I'll just take it to a suspension place because I have been to the mechanic 3 times now and he says he can't find anything wrong and it is because my car is lowered. Thing is it feels worse then before I took it to get it fixed :( Don't think I'll keep going back to the same mechanic anymore.

And its now done 325,000km! Has a small oil leak but still runs very well :) Loving driving it and loving manual. Have changed a few things on it should take some pictures sometime soon
