hi im new to using these forum sites but would like to know if there is a way to bypass the imobilizer on my te magna. the engine light stays on and will not start. mechanic said it has spark and fuel pump is working fine. is there a way of fixing this problem without having to get it towed to mitsubishi and paying for a new imobilizer?

so what won't the car do? crank at all?
no one on here is going to post up how to bypass an immob. mate... not on a public forum.... but if you can describe in detail exactly what the car is or isnt doing then we may be able to help you..
why exactly do you think its the immob. causing your problem/s?

immob cuts the injectors, you mechanic will need to see if there is an injector pulse before you start pointing at any particular part
If it is the immob, you can not purchase them new from mits, I have several dealers here in Vic who come to me to get second hand units from me as I have a few here
I can, if you are in need of an immob offer you immob on its own, you will then need to have the car taken to mits to recode all keys
I usually have a spare ecu, immob and key laying around but I sold the last one to a dealer about a week ago so until I get my next one in this I can not offer you. The key is quite easy to deal with, you get a spare pick up ring and tape the key inside it and tie that up under the dash, then the ECU and Immob thinks all is good to go. I would however recommend that you then get an aftermarket alarm with immob fitted so as to make sure your car does not vanish one day.

if the engine light is on then get a autosparky to get the fault code and you will know whats faulty. you can earth the datalink plug and it will flash the code in sequence on the dash using the N light, but i dont have my workshop manual here, so i cant remember which exact terminal it was. sounds like the infamous loose connection on back of ignition barrel. check the large plug that plugs on to the back of the ignition barrel.

Another one of these.... I have similar issues, in ~2 week cycles.
Without starting - Turn on ign, if the symbol stays on, turn off, and on and wait if the symbol goes out, if not, keep repeating - once symbol goes out, start ok. Occasionally I need to do this over 1/2 doz times.
There has been suggestions that it's bad connections, but I doubt it, cos this fault has a definite cycle and so forth.
Allegedly immob has a rotating coding system, which might explain the fortnighly cycle.

yeah my one does it in about 4 week cycles. i do exactly what you say and it always worked up untill the last time it happened in which i was trying it for hours and still nothing. then i left it for 24-36 hours and it worked. is this problem common is it?
