Well here we go again. It seems that my trusty v6 manual is biting the dust.
Have a serious shudder under load which seems to dissapear at 4k rpm or higher.
seems to have a missfire. I suspect a valve is not working properly
Have replaced leads / rotor / dizzy / plugs. still evident.
cleaned injectors. and replaced TPS.
Show evidence of a head gasket... small bubbles in coolant but oil cap is clear. Cemiweld helped.
Problem has increased over as many months especially after a trip down to Mildura and back, 2000 km round trip during easter.
I not sure what else to check.
Motor is sitting on 299,xxx kms. Im dreading a rebuild or replacement... Very low on cash..
Do any of you guys have any ideas of a solution or course of action.
Is my daily driver and have a wifde and two kids. it is our only car.
Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Try your local rag for a wrecked magna with lower k's? See if you cant nab it for a 100 or 2 and do a straight swap to another v6? About the cheapest option I have for you if you can do it yourself.

I had a bit of what I thought was a misfiring issue when my PCV valve was blocked. I cleaned it out and also cleaned inside the intake manifold next to the throttle ie. where the airbox tube connects (it was full of gunk). The engine ran much smoother afterwards.

To the OP, have you actually done a compression test on the car, have you checked the injectors (you say you have clenaed them, how did you perform this)
There can be many more reasons for a misfire, dont just assume the engine is dead as you may end up wasting much money.

Not done a compression test. I had them ultrasonically cleaned by a mechanic about 3 months ago. I have also since used a bottle of "Injector cleaner".
Is there an easy way to check compression?

when you say dizzy, did you have the complete dizzy repaced or just the cap?
after having a whole lot of trouble with my engine missing took it to an auto electrician cleaned the injectors and was told they replaced the dizzy, only for them to give it back to me still missing. they had tested the actual dizzy and it was fine so they only replaced the cap and rotor, turns out the actual dizzy was the problem.

lol Lots of guesses!
You suspect a valve is not closing properly, see bubbles in the radiator, and chemiweld helps?
Obviously a compression test is needed, it will tell you one of the heads needs to come off for valve/headgasket repair.

If your motor needs replacing, checkout ebay, I was so lucky to get a great V6 for my TS advance which had a broken timing belt and damaged the valves, was much cheaper for me to replace the motor then fix the old one, I won the bid on ebay for $152 and replaced seals and the timing belt myself before I fitted it to the car, all up the car was going again for about $300, I know I was very lucky to get a good motor for that price, if you can fit it yourself or have a mate to do it you will save heaps, cheers and good luck

Thanks for all your efforts guys.
I have not replaced the dizzy just the cap and rotor.
Fuel filter was done at last service about 5000k ago.
I suppose a compression test is on the cards.
Not sure about the oxy sensor?
Oh I have swapped the MAF and TPS though.. no change.
