So now that i have my new 380,the questions will begin....

Does it have a knock sensor and is there any benefit from running higher octane fuel,if so ,which one..??

What are opinions about these---MITSUBISHI 380 LOWERED PEDDERS COIL SPRINGS (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300374838241&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)

I have seen on the later series three(i think)a chrome strip (http://photos.carsguide.news.com.au/drive_images/dealer/noreasmit/15121/3_600.jpg)that runs between the tailights...thoughts...given mine looks like THIS (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x112/micpea/Black380GT-1.jpg)

Any one tinted there clear rear lenses...was thinking of tinting them but masking off the "light opening areas" to let them stay clear, but tinting the rest...clear looks a little bit mmmm,on the black..i like the tails heaps better than the other ones...just think they are too bright and clear ??

.....and what other tasty little mods can i do....

I am getting the bigger intake this week, and some 20% window tint and i know about the Berklee rear muffler...so any thing else...

..The other thing i was thinking about was fitting a set of modified G.E skirts like Daniel has done to his red tmr000

Looks like a great car! I agree the chrome strip might look good. Is it a custom-make gen part, just for that section on the boot lid? ( Just wondering about a similar chrome strip on the down-facing angle of the lip spoiler).

I also like your idea of tinting the clear lens, esp on the black...... think it could look much better tinted. Is there anyway the lens dismantles so you could tint on the inner faces? If the lenses dismantled, that black/grey insert surrounding the coloured lenses might look good painted body-colour, leaving only the outer elements (of white-looking clear plastic) needing the tint-job.

Would love to see the results of any mods you take-on!!

Yes, yes and 98 RON gives benefits of increased power (the ECU adjusts for it), better fuel economy and more/better additives. Worth the extra cost IMHO.

Most here have found the best combination to be Kings superlows on the front and Lows on the rear. Contact Shawn Possingham from Phillcom for a good deal.

Many here have added this chrome strip, it's not expensive to buy from a dealer, and it's an easy DIY job. I did mine myself, and there's a write up on it somewhere.

Any one tinted there clear rear lenses...was thinking of tinting them but masking off the "light opening areas" to let them stay clear, but tinting the rest...clear looks a little bit mmmm,on the black..i like the tails heaps better than the other ones...just think they are too bright and clear ??

Haven't done this myself, but I think White (Dan TMR000) has. Again, I think there are some posts on it somewhere.

.....and what other tasty little mods can i do....

Bigger rims for sure, at least 19". With decent rubber will set you back anything from $2,000 to $3,000, or more if you go for top of the line rims and/or rubber.

Bigger rear sway bar from Selby, makes a big difference to cornering & handling, a couple of threads here about it, shop around for best price.

The GT already comes with a front strut brace so no need to get one of those.

Auto trans cooler for sure (although I have a manual!), again plenty of threads/posts about this.

Better and/or less noisy front brake pads. We're all waiting for the promised QFM pads, but in the meantime Bendix General CTs are good value for money.

I am getting the bigger intake this week, and some 20% window tint and i know about the Berlee rear muffler...so any thing else...

I'd recommend extractors and a high flow third cat to round out the bigger intake & straight through muffler. Not real cheap, but you should be able to get them supplied & fitted for around $1200.

Instead of going for a single Berklee, think about a dual system. Really looks the biz if done well (again see Dan's TMR000), just be careful about which mufflers you choose to avoid the dreaded drone. Also means you will need to modify the rear bar lower insert to make the second opening. So it can be a little exxy.

Also look into modifying the lower intake resonator, plenty of threads on here about it. A few have simply removed it completely which results in a deep induction roar but questionable if it results in any real performance gains.

Lastly, better low beam headlight globes. The stockers are pretty ordinary. But the stock high beam/combo globes are pretty good.

..The other thing i was thinking about was fitting a set of modified G.E skirts like Daniel has done to his red tmr000

Including painting will be a bit exxy.

Just my 2c worth!

As if i could have it.Seriously, there is no real his and her car...they are both our own, but, its just that she will drive it daily and depending on the event/mood i will have a choice of two.
Not going over board with mods, but just simple(cheap lol ) mods at this stage...

I think that the crome strip will suit very well with the black, heres a pic of my GT

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/vdphoto/P4200056.jpg

you may be right about tinting the tail lens ...it would suit the darker color ,they look ok on mine
blends ok in the lighter colors.

I am in the process of getting twin pipes I am waiting on the a new bumber insert , this will then be modded to suit the extra pipe and painted charcoal the same color as the front grill insert, then to the exhaust shop for the fitting.
I have been quoated around $800 smakers all up. Was to have this done before Christmas but I dont think so,Will have to wait after we come back from holidays driving to Darwin in the 380.

cheers chenzo

Another thing to remember also is those tail lights have very hard to see indicators. If you tint them you my just reduce that visibility a little too much and cop a smack in the bum at an intersection.

I am very aware that with these lenses it is hard to see the indicators,as i have followed my share of GT/VRX with these tails to know they are a poor design in terms of visibility.

Which is why ,one of the many things i will be looking at ,is the possibility of swapping the reverse light with trhe indicator light,

As stated, IF, i was too tint them,i was going to mask off the area that the " light " shone through and leave it clear and just tint the surrounding body of the lense, just toning done that bright white plastic look a touch...

Thanks for all the comments and words of encouragement,or other wise......everything is taken under advisement and will or wont be acted upon accordingly...

thats the thing i love about this place, every one has an opinion and can freely expreess that opinion, and feel free to do so...each to their own....:woot:

You can also get them from Ripco around the same price, might have to order in for you though.

PS - I'm not convinced that the K&N is superior to the stock filter, and it's definitely inferior for filtering very fine dust. It's only real advantage is that it's cleanable/reusable and can last the life of the car.

Unlike a 3rd gen stock filter which is definitely inferior to a K&N.
