View Full Version : TL horn problem
Hi I have just bought a 2004 TL ES(recent thread "Second hand TL ES"). The horn only works intermittently, including if I make the alarm go off.
Can anyone tell me where in the engine bay I can find the horn so I can check connections.
I'm assuming that is the prob, rather than something behind the steering wheel, which I'm reluctant to tackle because of the air bag.
Thanks

Should be bolted to the body next to the power steering fluid reservoir.
Cheers
Which is in front of the radiator. You may need to remove the grill to gain better access to the horns. Some have 3 horns, 1 in the engine bay for the alarm and two in the bumper (one either side).

I think you might find your horn hiding behind your Windscreen Water bottle, remove that and you'll get full access to the horn. Slide the connections on and off a couple of times to renew the connectors and loosen and retighten the fixing bolt to renew the earth.
If that fails, it's probably time to replace your horn.
My money's on the earth...

The one beside the washer bottle is ONLY for alarm, i know as i changed it out for a alarm siren. the horns are behind front bumper near spotlight on each side

wrong.
on my TJII the horn is just next to the P/steering fluid thingo... it is used for both alarm AND horn and AFAIK this is the same setup on the TLs and TWs (well my mates TW has the same as mine...)
I think the differences mentioned here are between the Magnas and Veradas. The way I described it was also the way it was on my old KS Verada.
Thanks for all replies-will have a go as soon as.
Seems the horn is dead. (remove washer tank and easy to get at)
Thanks for the replies.

Sorry for bumping the old thread. I discovered this today while installing airhorns.
On my KL Verada, i had two disc horns.
One was facing the drivers side guard near the washer bottle/power steering fluid, while the other was above the passengers side foglight.
