There may be hope for a 380 ECU flash down the track.
I was reading on one of the 9G Galant forums & their Ralliart ECU has been cracked, quote follows .......
Hack has cracked the code on the ECU....
I was just talking to him and he told me to bring my car in today. He would like to try a few things out if not to busy.
By looking at the routines he's confident he can tune the following;
- Rev Limiter
- Speedo
- Fuel and Timing Maps
- MIVEC engagement point (he's not 100% sure on how exactly this routine works yet)

Not 100% sure, it all looks very similar under the bonnet. I couldn't imagine an under funded Mitsubishi going for a totally different ECU & designing the program from scatch when they could borrow the Galants & modify to suit ADR. Nearly everything from the Galant is the same as the 380.

The Galant ECU is completely different, even the CPU chip is different.
However, if the wiring is real close or identical then it may run with a lot of luck and tweaking.
I do business with Bosch in Clayton and they will NOT give out any info.
Also be aware that a certain number of password attempts on the Bosch will cause it to revert to a limp mode that is irreversible.
( that was the warning given to me )

Yep, it'll lock you out and be only good for the bin according to SKR.

this sounds exactly like the stories we heard about the magna ecu years ago.. its "locked" and has passwords etc lol
obviously it was rubbish about the magna now that the right ppl have looked at the magna ecu's
maybe its true for the 380 but just sounds like the same old again...
i too would be amazed if MMAL would have spent the cash to develop there own unique ecu setup when they could borrow stuff from lancers, galants etc exactly as they did with the magnas...

Probably never be the demand to warrant anyone going through the "hassle's" of trying to crack the 380 ecu.
Still haven't seen proof of anyone doing 3.5 ecu's properly yet either apart from SKR.

Yep, exactly what Steve told me back in August.

This was the problem with the magna.. no one was interested... thats all

i can!
do u want me to change the timing slightly on my car or something? (i have no dyno so i havent touched my fuel or timing.... but i can mod it) .. i can also raise or lower my rev limiter... and raise or lower my speed limiter.. if you give me two ecu's i can put the immob. code from one onto the other..meaning u can put a new ecu into your car without having to go see mitsu for a reprogram
want a live dyno tune? ive given the contact of the sydney guy.. not sure what else i can do to "prove" its possible
anyway, im getting off topic.. this is a 380 flashing thread, not magna.. sorry mods..

Any way to download the rom file?

Roms are easy...it's when you change the contents.
The roms in the 380 are different to the Magna.
They now have latitudinal and longtidudinal checksums as part of the rom data.
Unless you know exactly what to do the ECU will think it has a faulty eprom on startup.
That...is the problem.

yeh as stated pulling the roms off the cars is easy.. TE-TW .. the defiitions for them so we interpret them is what needs to be written....
