ok heres the deal ive found a manual conversion kit for a 380.

should i get the manual conversion and get the blower later down the track

just get the blower and go manual later down the track.

im thinking of going manual first. its hard to find a manual 380 wreck.

Manual first. As you said its the hardest thing to track down.

Wouldn't the manual result in a performance loss thanks the short gear ratios in relation to the auto?

from the reviews from ages back, the manual and the auto were pretty well matched. neither was much faster than the other. i dare say the manual will launch a hell of alot harder and probably take more of a beating than an auto once the blower goes on mate. i'd say get the manual now.

If you are definitely gonna do a manual conversion at some stage I would do it now while you have one available.

:hmm: I can see a 230+KW ATW 380 coming up down the track

3.8+manual+blower = easy

Go the manual now if the opportunity is there.
Fit a clutch that will take the torque of the blown motor.

I reckon you better find a LSD if you are doing a supercharged manual 380...

In the 0-100 sprint I can leave my brother for dead in his manual 380.

I would say the manual is almost a second slower.

Some say the manual is better in the 80-120 overtake, but that's not enough to get me to convert.

That's a great idea. I'd go for the manual first, as it seems you can do more adjustments/tweaking later of the supercharger install against the already-fitted manual transmission, than the other way around (I'm guessing).
How much is the whole thing? (sourcing the manual, and fitting it).
I know everyone says the manual is slower in some areas of the rev range and/or for quick shifting through gears, etc, but the manual has a fun-to-drive element that you can't put a price/kilowatt rating on. I've driven Blue380's manul VRX and loved it. I gave his a real fanging (with him in it of course) and found no difference at all; both our cars having the same mods and mileage at that time.
I reckon you could definately pave the way for manual 380 conversions, if you have a go at this - as none have been done so far.

i say put in a manual with the 3.5L's gearing would be your best bet :)(not too sure how easy / hard this is though)

well ive decide against the conversion. im gonna do some research into strengthening the auto.

the conversion is at eddy wreckers. its $2800

for everything.

you need all the standard stuff plus wirring loom, ecu and instrument cluster. need to make a template for the clutch cylinder holes.

its a dash out job. as the entire wiring loom needs to be changed due to canbus crap.

Fair enough! That is a bit of a mission really. The blowers gonna give you smiles anyhow :P manual will just be like driving the auto just with a clutch... no real wow factor.

The auto is fine and will be the least of your problems.

9 psi ...eh?

Better have a rethink on anything above about 6.5 psi else your tears will flow onto the leather seats.
