my new TF has 16" alloys with 205 65 tires. i am used to putting in 32lb but they had 35lb in them. is that the correct pressure? couldn't see it written anywhere.......

To get the best milage out of them, personally I would run 36-38psi however the ride may be slightly harder.

I've also got 7 years tyres fitting experience.

32psi sounds about right for a factory tyre pressure, but like ARS55 said, something a bit harder would be better for your handling and mileage.

FYI - low pressure does more damage than high pressure - eg: 50psi is not recommended by anyone, but is very unlikely to cause any damage, whereas low pressure that causes the tyre to sag (probably 25psi and less) will generate a lot of heat in the tyre as the car drives along - that heat has more potential for wearing or damaging the tyre than 50psi would.

32 is OK, like others, I'd use 36psi.

It was recommended to me during an advanced driving course to have 36psi at the heavy end of the car (eg front of a 2WD magna or rear of an MR2) and 32psi at the light end, or about 34 psi all round for a front engine, RWD or AWD.
My tyre's sidewall says to add 9psi to the manufacturers recommendation (27psi) if driving at sustained freeway speeds and that = 36psi.

i got a full set of 4 tyres put on yesterday, and i checked them, the front was 43psi and the back was 40psi.
It seems to go alright, so i will leave it until next week when i get a wheel allignment next week.

My son & I are going to one of the Murcotts’ Defensive Driving Programs in January.
The instructions say to have our tyres at 36psi (front and rear).

With the weight of the magna these examples would be 28psi or below 34-36psi and 42psi or more

Tyre pressure also depends on how much weight you intend on carrying e.g. if you constantly have a full car with family and a boot load of crap or if you just have yourself on the way to work etc it also comes down to what type of driving you do city/suburban/highway

Yeah i run 36 psi all round, get even wear. I laughed when i saw the tyre placard said "For speeds above 160km/h, add 4psi" lol

Spot on for me too, in 16" an 17" on both my TH sports and KJ GTV, was done by the same tyre place ive gone to in Bendigo for 8 yrs almost.
Done all 4 of my 3rd gens tyres, aligments balancing etc.

For ref, they always ran 32 in my 15" TF Advance and TH solara.
And same they said a fully loaded car, add 2-4 PSI.

Tip is always check your pressures when the tyres are at their coldest.
