What should i do with a friends magna, he's on a limited budget and his engine has a rooted timing chain and low compression.
i could rebuild it for him or would it be better to buy a TR donk and put it in there instead with the efi system aswell? does the TR have an IDENTICAL block to the TM astron ? so the manual will mount up?
thanks lads

I'd suspect that the manual's are different.. Speaking to a wrecker I found out that the TM's have different manual's to the TN and TP's, and that they're incompatible. So I'd say that the TR would have different mounting holes etc..

as far as i know the mount points on the block are the same just the actual mounts are diff. and the TM has a diff gb to the TP cuz alot of guys putting power into them swap for the TP box cuz its a bit stronger.

The TR engine BLOCK is identical to the TN, therefore it should also be identical to the TM. As for the ECU wiring up, yer on yer own.

Ive decided its best just to rebuild the Carbi engine, polish the head and manifolds, mild cam and upgrade the carbi and redo the vacuum setup for more "fuel efficient" running. it would be alot easier than using the same block and putting a efi system around it right?
Easier to do, yes. More fuel efficient that EFI, probably not.

without a doubt not, but is the up front expence of an extra say 500 bucks worth it? how long would it take to save 500 on petrol ;)
