Hi all,

I have my pioneer HU ready to go, but want to get a wiring harness to keep everything nice and clean. I have been looking around and basically found that there are 2 types of plug for the magna's, the newer ones have one plug and the older have 2 plugs. I am guessing that the TH has 1 plug but I was hoping someone can confirm before I pull everything apart!

I also wonder if there is a plug that goes straight from the magna factory plug to the pioneer HU without having to do any wiring? If not I will just get a plug/loom and wire it myself with the supplied pioneer plug/loom I guess. I know I can go mitsubishi to iso then iso to pioneer but dont know if it is worth buying 2 connectors.

Thanks in advance

*edit* I should mention that my stereo is a single din casette with a 6 stack cd under the passenger seat, and that it is a TH Solara wagon!

Hi Mate,

The TH loom in the car will terminate into one "mouth organ" plug (think the Mitsi change from two plugs to single plug occurred in about 1996). Put it this way, I have swapped KJ Stereos into a TR Magna - and the "one plug" design was same in both cars. Your TH is a safe bet to be single plug.

There are "click on" or "plug and play" wiring loom adaptors available at most Auto Spares or Auto Sound Shops..... Aerpro is one brand which I have used, and Aerpro website has a catalogue showing their range.

It is most likely that you will require TWO adaptors: A/ Mitsi plug to ISO and B/ ISO to Pioneer (ISO is a Euro standard of HU connector -it uses two weird rectangle connectors, one for power/antenna/etc and the other for speakers). Using these will be very simple, just be careful you get the correct "genders" and it all clicks together, no soldering and very easy to transfer to new HU or take car back to stock.

If you don't mind some soldering and want to avoid buying TWO adaptors from Aerpro (or whoever), they should also have a "Mitsi to Bare-wires" which you can solder to the loom supplied with your HU.

The Aerpro wiring loom adaptors were priced about $16- to $25- last time I looked. There are other brands of the same 'click together' loom adaptor - I just don't know the name, but think my local AutoBarn may have had a non-Aerpro brand.

Thats what I have available if its of any use. I don't know much about the installation side of things but I list it up on my site for people who know what they need. If you want more detailed information just let me know and I will gather it.
