Does anyone know if the front & rear struts, springs etc & the rear upper control arm off a TJ Sedan is shared with any other Mitsubishi or any other models for that matter?
Thanks in advance.

Craig.

not quite sure what you asking for... do you mean "are the same parts used in other cars?" or "do other car parts fit into the Magna?"

if it's the second, front struts and springs from an Evo 7 thru 9 bolt straight in. the rears fit with an adapter. I don't know about the control arms.

cheers,

Do you know much about the adapter?
As for the rear upper control arms I am wondering if Eclipse, Legnum, Lancer etc may fit.

Cheers
Craig.

I know a lot about the adapter.

it's a custom made piece of alloy machined to fit a lancer suspension bush and bolt onto the magna mount.

with my (and Cummins) DMS coilovers there's enough room for the adapter inside the mount on the rear strut. with other suspension it might not fit so nicely. without seeing the size of the mounting bracket it's impossible to tell whether it'll fit.

Wookie,

So the length of the rear struts is fine to fit, with an appropriate adapter. Strut tops are the same, or you use the magna ones?

& the front fit right in with magna strut tops? What about the bracket to hold the brake lines? Is this already there, in the correct position?

With the fronts I could fit adjustable coilovers & a top camber adj plate that fit straight in with no mod & the rears fit in at the top with no mod but the bottom needs one of these brackets.
Is that all correct?

Cheers

I don't have any pics, but I'll take some over the weekend.

thinking about it now, we re-used the magna strut tops for the rears. I had also bought magna-specific adjustable tops for the fronts, so I'm not 100% that the Evo strut tops will bolt in. you can always take the tops off the current struts.

the bracket to hold the brake lines may or may not be there, depending on which struts you have. it wasn't there on the DMS ones, but a strong cable tie works great.

I'm going to do some suspension work on my daily wagon shortly, so I can check out the fronts. the rear are totally different in the wagons though.

thread revival - questions for wook :)

clarify,
so the springs from an Evo 7 front will fit the 3rd gen shocks?

OR

you need to use the evo strut and spring with the magna strut top?

Q. any chances of a pic of that 'adaptor'

Q. don't happen to know the spring rates for stock evo springs? or how they will sit in a 3rd gen? lower/higher than stock?

not sure, as we replaced the whole she-bang with coilovers. they have the same mounting points, so I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same struts, but the only way to really find out is to get a magna strut and an evo strut side by side.

Q. any chances of a pic of that 'adaptor'

I was just playing with a set on Wednesday night... I'll take a happy snap next time. it's really just a block of alloy with two perpendicular holes through it. one hole has to fit the Lancer lower suspension bush, the other has to fit on to the magna lower suspension mount.

no idea.
