Hi,

I've got a 1993 TR 3.0L V6 magna, which needs a new thrust bearing in the clutch. I had a new clutch (or at least paid for one to be put in) just over 2 years ago. The mechanic recommends i get a new clutch while doing the thrust bearing. Is this neccesary since it was replaced 2 years ago?

Thanks

Ausbass

When you say you had a new clutch put in 2 years ago, does it still have plenty of life in it? The reason your mechanic recommends changing the clutch is only because they have to take the gearbox off and for the extra couple of hundred you can swap the clutch at the same time. It's really your call at the end of the day, if you think the clutch only has 1 year left then you might as well just do the whole lot, but if money is tight then you will be okay just changing the bearing AFAIK.

My Sigma is the only manual car I have owned since the 80's

I had the clutch rebuilt when I fitted the turbo. That was nearly 10 years ago.

Still using the same clutch:beer:
