Story: I have bought a TH verada EI donnor car.
Plan: I want to transfer the engine and all the wiring and dash into my TF magna sports, including cluster, climate control, air bags, TCL, trip computer etc
Questions:
1: is the traction control transferable?
2: What components are there for the airbags, also what are the safety warnings for the airbags?
3: will i need to change the BEM for the climate control etc to work?
4: If i change the BEM does this require me to change the lock barrels
5: what and where are the sensor for the TCL and trip computer??
6: What parts are the same which i can leave and what parts arnt compatable and cant do??
Cheers guys,
I can't answer all of them, but TF magna's don't have a BEM. If you are transferring all the wiring, might as well do the ignition barrel and the door/boot locks too - providing you have the keys for the KH.
There's a manual for download on the site somewhere in the 3rd gen section I think, it shows the assembly of all the systems in the magnas, would be a worthwhile look so you can plan how you are going to add in the extra items.

The whole lot can be changed, but if you are going to chage some of it, change the lot
I have KJ everything in my TE Wagon, the BEM does not have anything to do with climate but you get lots of extra features that can be handy so may as well do the lot while you are at it

Maate,
after looking at a KH model I've been sorting out you'll need to consider the following:
Q1 Traction control system takes info from the bosch ABS/EBD unit located on the passenger side of the engine bay firewall. The unit will have a TCL reference stamped on the top of it, if TCL is fitted, where the brake pipes screw in. This info then goes to ECU which will have a TCL circuit in it. So the bosch unit & engine bay wiring will need to be fitted to the TF Sport.
Q2 The SRS module is located under the ECU. Leave car battery disconnected for approx 5 minutes before unplugging components. All KH wiring will need to be compared to the TF wiring to ensure compatibility as there are different part numbers for the SRS modules. If in doubt fit the KH wiring. Torx tool required to remove the airbag from the steering wheel. If the airbag/s have been deployed then the SRS module, clockspring and possibly the steering wheel will need replacement. . The clockspring is behind the steering wheel. Make sure you align the arrows between the rotating sections before removing it and stickytape the 2 halves together - this helps prevent clockspring damage from overwinding. If not already fitted to the TF then passenger side airbag brackets will need to be positioned and welded to the dash support piping behind the dash. Do not power up the SRS system with components unplugged as the SRS module will register a fault and the SRS light will remain illuminated. Do not use a multimeter to check the SRS air bag units as it may trigger /deploy the airbag.
Q3 Not sure of the BEM and the climate control system.
Q4 Fitting the KH BEM will require the associated dasboard wiring, keys etc as the KH ECU will be looking for info from the BEM & ignition key. So key barrels will need changing.
Q5 Not sure of the location of the sensor's for the TCL but as the bosch ABS units have TCL stamped on them for the cars fitted with TCL then they probably get the info from the ABS sensors fitted at the wheels. As for the trip computer sensor ??? not sure.
Q6 Not sure what is & is not compatible. The visible differences in the vehicle layouts will also carry over to wiring, componentry etc, etc, etc. In short if you have the patience change as much over as a complete assembly as possible.
Cheers

As I stated, I have done various stages of what you are talking about on several occasions now, you can change the whole lot but not parts of it.
The TCL is an easy swap, the TCL box gets its signal from the wheel sensors via a small harness that goes from the engine harness across to the LHS ABS harness where it picks up the pulse. Thus the reason to change the lot.
It is not as big job as it sounds, remove the dash and front guards and you have access to everything. Take the TF all apart and then simply grab the bits from the KH and trans to the TF
If you want to see pics, look at my 2 car threads in members machines, you will see where I have done this twice and I am also doing it now to my wife's TH
Also, the SRS on the pass side will not bolt up to your TF unless it is an LS with pass bag, you can either weld the brackets onto the TF or if you are using a dash with no pass bag, you make sure that you have the little boot that goes over the SRS plug so as to ensure that the green clip stays clipped into the plug. If you have a look at a wrecker at a TH or J with only drivers bag, the pass bag wiring is there but terminated, you will see what I mean when you looksee
If you want to know more, pm me and I will give you my number and tell you the best method to use to make it all smooth
