G'day all,
Looking at fitting some 18x8 wheels to my TL AWD VRX. Just wondering what offset others are using with their aftermarket wheels. I was looking at some wheels with a +35 offset but have been told by that the rims will sit outside the wheel arch. For the record I'm running the Ralliart Enkei wheels at the moment which I think are a +46 offset??

Stock Enkeis are 7" wide with a +46 offset.
8" wide with a +35 offset is fine. I have 8" wide with a +38 offset and all the rims are inside the guards (although my front tyres stick out of the guard by the tiniest of margins). If you're lowered I'd recommend rolling your rear guards too, since the wider rims will sit *under* the guard.
Well if the above info is correct, i'd be looking for alternate wheels. Why bother going through those hassels to end up with something illegal.
BTW CraigO, think i saw you on Pt. W.rd. last weekend...nice AWD mate!

Most probably would have been me. Spend a bit of time traveling up and down Port Wakefield road as my girlfriend lives up that way. I hope my car was clean at the time, as she is filthy now. :D

at 8" wide, you need at least a +38 offset to keep the track legal. anything smaller than that will make the track too wide and will likely push the rim/tyre outside the line of the body.

Seems like +38 offset is the sweet spot. Going to trial fit some wheels in the New Year, but I may just get some better looking 17" wheels. Anyway thanks for the posts.
Happy New Year to all. :facejump:
Cheers

I've got +35 18x8" rims on my car (which is the same as yours), and yes the front wheels sit ever so marginally outside the arches, probably by about 2-3mm. +38 would be fine I would presume, most of the reason for mine sticking out is the thick sidewall on the tyre, the old maxxis tyres that used to be on the 18"s sat flush with the wheel arch.
From memory, its only if the tread is visible outside of the wheel arch and not the bulging sidewall. Unless I miss interpreted the rules.
For those with 38+ offset, what are the specs of the tyres? Also, any clearance issues with that suspension arm that curves over the inside of the tyres?

None, at all.
I ran +38 with 235/45/18s & just had enough clearance. (Most will run 235/40/18, which will give evne more clearance. Some are actually running 245 wide tyres on this offset.)
I'm now running 235/45/18 on a +35 offset, which with a little negative camber, just puts the front tyre tread inside the guard.
