TJ series 1 Verada drivers electric window stuck down.
The other three windows are working and the fuse is not blown. The jammed /stuck drivers window makes a clicking noise when operated but does not work.
Any ideas appreciated.

sounds like a tooth has broken on one of the gears. can you hear the motor operating.

Had it happen in my KH Verada, window regulator was stuffed. Need to replace it with one from a wreck.
Until you do I'd recommend jamming the window up with something, I used a block of wood :P Hey it worked ;)
Take the door trim off and see if you can help it up with your hand, at least this gets the window closed for you. Also sounds like you'll need to remove the motor/actuator and inspect it.

Thanks heaps for all the quick responses.
I'll post Madmagna's here - as usual it covers all possibilities.

Hi bud, Can be one of 4 things
The drivers door switch may be dirty or burnt out, the 4 switches are separate switches
The cable in the reg may have broken
The Reg motor may be had it
The connector either in the pillar or in the door may be loose, wire broken
I would start by removing the trim, disc the motor and use a 12 or even 6 volt battery to see if you can get it to move, if not then I would place my bets n the reg motor or the cable which is common.
Regs should cost you about 60 bucks from a wrecker
Also test for power at the motor, take off the trim and plug in the switch, activate the switch and you should have power acrss the 2 wires.

Just before people point out that the drivers switch is a single unit, what I was driving at in my answer was that each of the 4 switches are separate switches in a single pack so just because the other windows are working could still have been the switch for the drivers door playing up

There was also a recall on TJs in April 2003 to fix a fault in the regulator, mine dropped down into the door a couple of days before the recall went out (mines a 12/200 build), it involved a clip that holds the window onto the reg from memory.

Thanks for offer Wook,
The oldies went ahead and had it fixed at NRMA Tuggeranong w/o waiting for me to look at options - it cost them $670 fitted with $152 labour and the rest parts including newer version of regulator and motor as the old version of motor only was no longer stocked by Mitsu.
What really hurt was they used the $1000 I gave them for Xmas :hmm: Its not like they couldn't have waited for a fix we have 3 other registered cars with aircon parked here to use.
They get to 80 and just have minds of their own LOL. Who said it was youth who were impetuous?

OUCH! I think a second hand regulator (with the motor) cost what they paid for labour and it's about 1hr to pull the old one out and install the new one.
oh well, parents these days. what can you do...? :D

even a non-genuine reg from electric-life would have been less half that (fitted)... $152 labour? wtf even in perth thats over 1.5hrs(@$90/hr) for a .75-1 hr job
