I was thinking of (sometime in the very distant future) replacing my stock audio system with a carPC. ie pulling it out and putting in a 7" touchscreen hooked up to a pc under the passengers seat.

I have a 380 and Ive got some of it figured out, except for the radio. I understand that I'll have to get a Radio tuner

The question is: is there some sort of USB peripheral that will let me use the car antenna with the carPC?
and is there a major loss in sound quality from the radio? Ive heard this is a problem (forums on MP3car.com)

being able to use the stock antenna is really the deal breaker for me (since its integrated into the rear windscreen (Mitsu 380) and it would be a shame to just have it sitting there doing nothing.)

NVM, Ive decided I'll hold out until Digital radio takes of in aus. and DVB+ radio tuners are more readily available.

Isn't digital radio available already?

Digital radio is available already but is very expensive for the consumer ATM to get into

in regards to the antenna there will be a connection for it when you remove your head unit
