Found springs here in the U.S from a company called Vogtland. One of the only companies to make lowering springs for Diamantes. It's $194.00 not bad but only a 1.4" (35 mm) drop. Isn't that barely even noticeable?

thats the drop of standard Lows Springs that we have here.
Any more, and you'd have trouble reversing out of the driveway

We have 3 types/heights in our common springs being kings.
SP'S are 30mm drop(barely noticable an not worth it)
Lows are 45mm drop and
Super lows are 55 to 60 drop(someone may correct me on the super lows.
Lows are the most common and probably the besft fit for a Magna which are the 45mm drop.

I've got Kings lows (about a 40mm drop, 50mm settled) with 17" rims and I'm quite pleased with the result. Rims fill the guards evenly and is still quite practical to drive over speed bumps out driveways ect.

Your cars drop almost looks like mine now stock. I have 20's so I believe I'm already pretty limited to how much I can drop it. It already rubs a bit now and I have a driveway I have to get up too. Maybe 35mm would be sufficient. (In my members ride thread you can get an idea). I have a couple of car guys here telling me not to drop my car because I'll ruin it. They said that the tight suspension and the drop will damage the car slowly in city with the horrible roads here. How's the ride with your cars?

Another thing..... what do you mean by 40mm drop and 50mm settled?

For best handling result even Kings here recommend use of the SP (Sport handling) 30mm drop and actively recommend against Superlow except for show cars appearance only. With 20's if you want the best handling I would stick to the 35mm max option you have.

Some people suggest their coil springs settle with the weight of the car over the first few 1000 km travel. The manufacturers generally suggest that only leaf springs settle rather than coils but different views/experiences abound.

Thanks for your answer. I'll follow that suggestion.

Coil springs 'settling' is bollucks, in my personal experience at least.
When I had king Lows I measured the drop at about 30mm (even though it's advertised at 45mm from memory), just before I pulled em out 20,000km or whatever it was later, was still about 30mm.
The springs I have in my my custom Bilstein setup are Kings of custom rate/height (over double the rate of Lows and worked out about 45mm lower over factory on install)...plenty of kms later my ride height does not seem to have changed....
Coil springs that are REALLY old or poor quality seem to sag, but I have done plenty of kms on 2 sets of springs without any measurable change in ride height...unless I measured wrong.
And yes as far as off-the-shelf springs go, King Lows or SP are the way to go if you care about handling...super Lows are just too low in springrate for the drop in height and travel they give.

Nice nice, I plan to do this but with 18" rims. Looks good.

Yeah I am looking at the Kings SP and Boge shocks at the moment, from the research this seems to be the best combo for handling while keeping some sort of comfort... I can't go too low as my driveway is a pig of a thing to get in and out of :(

Rubbish, actually i have this set up,and ride is a lot,lot worst then standard stock, and only gain is a little, little bit better handling. My advice -Changed springs only, if you're going for look and forget any comfort.

Agreed, my TL was pretty hard when I lowered it. Handled a bit better (since it didn't roll onto it's door handles so much), and looked 100x better, but it was a pretty rough ride.

This is actually a very good set-up for the price. PM Type40 as he has exactly this set-up. Handles well too, although he has upgraded the swaybar as well.

So you think the stock monroes are better than the boges? Lowering any car will firm the ride up. If you want the handling to improve, you need to upgrade the swaybar too. Pointless otherwise, if you're doing it for handling, not looks.

No, What i meant stock (springs) set up is a lot,lot better than any aftermarkt set up (springs/shocks),coz ride is so hard and awful, even using Boge with Kings low = sh!ty ride.
