My bf and I own a 97 TF magna sports tip-tronic, when we bought the car it rough shifted from 2nd to 3rd gear. Within a couple of weeks this went away. It went in for a major service the other day, and now it rough shifts again (due to battery being disconnected) but also, it clunks in either D or R and when put into R the D light comes on too, as well as when driving along in D you lose all power almost as if it is in N, the first couple of times you could slow right down pull it back to N then back to D and off you go, but today, it just kept losing D.....has anyone had this problem before......would a ECU resent be the way to go? if so how do we do it? It's being taken to an automatic transmission place today so yeah.......we just wanted peoples opnions.

When was the last time the transmission had a full flush? when my auto starts playing a change of the transmission fluid fixes it (haven't had to disconnect the battery for a very long time to reset the greabox).

I'd start there as the other causes of this happening aren't going to be cheap....

BTW make sure the transmission place only use genuine Mitsu fluid in your gearbox.

thanks it had been done not long ago, it had turned out to be the inhibiter switch i think it was.
