looks like the end of the bolt just broken off or something.

how big of a problem is this ?

If you look closely at the picture we see some black soot - this and the extra noise it makes are the only problems you will have. It's not a bolt, its a stud that has broken off - easily replaced by removing the exhaust manifold and using multigrips or 2 nuts locked together to remove. You will first of all need a new stud and nut from the wreckers or a Mitsu dealer. If its not too noisy just leave it.
