City Parts Plus in Zillmere, Brisbane, QLD, have another AWD Magna. So, if someone's after the front calipers and rotors, then they're a straight swap and are a great upgrade. They also allows the use of EBC Green Stuff on the front. The rears however are a different scenario.
The front right strut is on the car but the front left is in the yard somewhere :P. I'd ask them to check out the condition of it first but it's probably fine.
There's also TJ tail lights on a Sports that appear in good nic.
This find is dated Sat 22 May, 2004.
any 3rd gen TFs there with the centre console still intact?

I think so. You'd have to have a look. Just get onto Sandgate road and follow it until the last set of lights before the hill and turn left. It's on the left about 150m up.

The front's pretty messy and broken glass everywhere.

They do but Dave keeps mentioning 295 whereas these are 294's. That's stuff all difference though. I paid $125 for each of my calipers and about $90 for each rotor.

It was there when I left.

I'm sure the drive train was there even if the front right strut wasn't where it should be. I'd forget doing the conversion, you've got to worry about fuel tank and stuff like that.

Didn't look at the interior much but the windows were broken and we've had a small amount of rain lately.
I could head back and see if I can take photos of it if anyones really interested.
photos would be good, especially of the sports.
but don't worry about it if it's too much trouble.

Gday guys
Just wondering what is the difference between AWD calipers/rotors and those that come on a 2000KJ Verada. Also will they fit straight on.
Thanks
P.S.- what is EBC greenstuff???
Tiphareth

EBC Green stuff is a Brake pad made by EBC (the company)
yes they should fit, they are just a larger rotor and a twin pot (?) instead of the usual single pot caliper

Hi, Dave.
The calipers on the Verada would be the same ones first fitted to TE's when they were first made. The AWD got the same size as the Ralliart Magna.
i.e. 294 at the front which are now twin piston and 286 at the rear but still single piston. Rears are also now ventilated whereas other models are solid.
The fronts are a straight swap. The rears however aren't. If you can find a wrecked Ralliart Magna, the rears are a straight swap. There's no problems with master cylinders either.

I went in today to pick up the brakes - they couldn't find the left one that had been removed from the left hand side, so I'll pick them up tomorrow or monday (if they can find it!) was quoted $130 for each caliper and $75 per rotor.
also went to an EBC brake supplier - and they have no listing for EBC rotors or pads to fit these brakes, ????? (can anyone confirm that the AWD/Ralliart brakes are the same as EVO brakes??) so I'll pick up the AWD rotors for now too, and see If I can get some better pads from somewhere.
redav - did you get your brake discs machined or anything before going in? its just these ones look a bit rusty.

Yeah, I couldn't see it on the wreck but was assured by the guy there that they would have it. Just don't buy unless you get them. As it's broken free I'd suggest checking the condition of the hose. I suspect that it's not with the wreck as someone wanted the wheels. Prices sound alright.

I've asked a couple of times for Dave to send me part no's but he's always too flat out to remember. I'd suggest calling EBC if it's possible. So, if you find out, I'd love to hear for front and rear. I don't know about the rears but the guy who fitted mine said they looked like Evo calipers to him. He hasn't commented on the rears but I'll ask him. I'll also ask on Wednesday when I'm rubbing shoulders with a couple of Mitsu people.

Nope. The rust is just surface rust and will vanish after a short while. Means that only the swepth path is cleaned but that's what everyone's rotors will look like anyway. You could sit down and clean them yourself but machining wouldn't be needed. Those did look rustier than mine but I can't imagine they would have any deep rust. Who's doing the transplant? Ask them when you get them to them. They might offer and charge for it but if they're honest, they'll say they should be fine or show you where there might be an issue.
Speaking about brakes, I know (through a friend of mine) a guy who is a tech that works at mitsu I asked him about upgrading to Ralliart brakes and he said it'd be a waist of time and deffinately not worth the money to do... *shrug*

thanks redav,
I looked into the brakes yesterday and found that - DBA now makes slotted rotors for the AWD brakes ($115 ea.), EBC doesn't list them, but according to DBA's cataloque, the EVO IV GSR (front only) discs are the same part number as the AWD front discs - so I'm sure there would be an EBC rotor to fit ($255 ea.). Don't know about the caliper similarities, but wouldn't be suprised if they were the same.
I'll take your advice redav - get the calipers, then buy a set of 294mm DBA slotted rotors and maybe some Bendix Ultimate pads. (would love EBC, but the rotors alone would be over $500!!!). After searching this forum, it seems that RPW advises not to use EBC pads with DBA discs, as they will warp - can anybody confirm this or give a reason why??? I was told by a brake person that the EBC pads can be used on the standard rotor - so why not the DBA's??????
thanks

I guess everyone has their own opinion. If you ask Revelstone2, other Ralliart owners and myself, I'm sure you'll hear a chorus of responces saying the stock brakes are GAY in comparrison to the Ralliart / AWD spec. He maybe factoring in the costs. From Mitsu they're over 3 grands worth. If he works for Mitsu then he might be able to get them cheaper.

Ask around about DBA with Ultimate. I've only ever used stock stuff so can't provide any info here but have a funny feeling they may be a little too abbrasive. Have a search and post a few Q's. I do know that Dave and other Magna and Commodore owners have experienced excesive wear with EBC Kevlar pads when used on DBA. From what I understand the rotors aren't hard enough and the kevlars just chew though them. Someone even ended up with a trench a millimetre or two deep :o I'd have thought the standard rotor wouldn't have been good either.
Before buying the pads etc, make sure that they fit. If you go to a supplier of Bendix or EBC then they shouldn't be worried about physically checking a caliper with the pads or rotors before a purchase. The stock pads seem to be good anyway. Plus they have that metal bit that will squeal when the pads get too low.

I can't believe a tech wold sy it is not worth upgrading from single piston callipers to twin piston callipers. The brake increase is almosy 30%more.
All you guys spend bucket loads of money making your car go faster and none making it stop better.
Yes the Brakes are expensive at $3000 for genuine stuff. How much have you spent to make the car look and go beter? How much to make it stop better?
If you just do the front like REDAV the improvement is worth it.
These bits are becoming more frequent at the wreckers.
I would also say go and drive an AWD Magna stomp the brakes and see what happens and then do the same in your own magna.
to put this in simple terms

Once again moving a For Sale thread to Mods as the whole selling aspect has disappeared into a discussion.
