It appears I couldnt start my car since Christmas and Monday was the only time the LPG shop opened. It appears that my Magna's immobalizer is preventing me from a proper start up. I never even realised my Magna has immobalizer.
Anyone had such issues?
I couldnt start on either gas or fuel. Once it starts it immediately stops.

If it starts then stops then it is most likely to be the battery. New battery fixes.
If it cranks without firing at at all then it is the immobiliser circuit.
I have had both problems.

What he said above.
Try a battery charger for a few hours then see if it starts. Check running voltage with a multimeter - could be the battery or the alternator.

update, weird enough when the mech took out the rubber key ring, EVERYTHING is fine. They think is the immobilizer playing up and it would cost me $700 to replace (go figure) sigh...
For now drive without the rubber key ring.

Plenty of info on this site about this problem. Other solutions are the throttle body wiring connector gets a bit of moisture in it after an engine wash and the wiring connector under the dash as wella s the battery. One of the 3 will fix it, do a search.

thanks for the info. It didnt occur to me that this is a common problem on magnas nor have I seen this happening on the threads here.

The pick up is a common problem, if moving it got it running you have a broken wire, you can pick them up from a wreckers for next to nothing or you may be able to solder the one you have
I have been working on Magna;s since the third gen came out, never heard of the TB causing it to stall due to a wiring issue, I have run these cars with the tb totally disconnected and even then they did not have the above issue

The ring, thats the antenna for the keyless entry right ? , may not be involved.
The immobiliser works off the ignition key.
Guess what I discovered today (in a 2004 TL )
One key works just fine, the other key,, the engine wont start.
The keys look identical as far as I can see .
What this tells me is that the immobiliser works off the bits that detect the shape of the key...
.. Just being able to turn the key doesn't mean the immobiliser is happy about the key !
So that makes a 4th problem area... ignition lock parts worn out and not deactiviting immoboliser

Nice info.
Well I am Referring to the Key ring inition part where you see a black rubber seal around it. They took it off and immediately my car have no issues. One turn and it starts. The LPG shop has a friend working in Mitsubishi and has said it is the transponder at the key entery playing up and it is becoming weak. Changing it would be looking at $485.00
For now they suggested leave it to save the money and see how it goes. Everything is working, radio lights and no indication my battery is going to die. The battery indicator shows it is in "good" condition.
They had tried all my keys and unfortunately they were at the same result.
For now, I am ok. At least I got a car to drive since Christmas. :)

the imobilizer reads a transponder chip that is inside the key,

I have a TWII AWD VRX purchased new in 2005 that has not yet had the problem. Just done the 135k service, and nearly 2 years ago got the 2 kids a TJ Exec each to upgrade the old Triton and Camry they had. Both TJs have had the symptom of starting and stalling at different times.
When the first one had the starting/stalling issue and without researching this site, a mate who also had a TJ at the time told me that he had had the problem and his mechanic attributed it to moisture in the TB connector. Cleaned, dried, and lubed and he had had no problem since. I did the same with this one and found moisture which I attributed to aggressive detailing by the car yard. Assembled with Lanotec. It was within the 3 month warranty period and they were stumped by it. No problem since and nearly 20.000 km.
The other one subsequently had the starting/stalling thing a year or so later and it wasn't the TB connector. Found it to be the immobiliser connector under the dash. Rather than cut the connector out and solder the wires as others have done, I 'tweaked' the pins in the connector and reassembled using Lanotec and a zip tie to hold the connector tightly together. No problems since and about 10,000 km.
Maybe the TB connector was concidence, but it worked for me on one TJ in my fleet.

That is correct as well. I actually never thought there was a imobilizer and a chip in the key.
well at least is working for now.
