Hi guys.
Last couple of weeks had the clutch slipping, but only in the morning. I replaced the clutch about 25 000kms ago and car has been running fine, not very hard usage either.
The clutch only seems to slip the first 5-10kms in the morning and then its fine. I can put it in 5th at low speed and rev it and still wont slip, but in the morning slips at all speeds and gears. It seems random as well, some mornings its fine.
Could this be something to do with the hydraulics or the cylinder? Dont really want to do the clutch again having just done it.
When the clutch was done - bearing and pressure plate were also done. Gearbox oil was replaced 5000kms ago.
Its a 2nd Gen V6 as well.
Cheers

I'm under the impression that the hydraulic clutch cylinders are self adjusting so if its working later in the day chances are, it's fine. But some things you could try.
Check to see if your hydraulic fluid is low.
On the clutch pedal there are a couple of adjustment nuts, they could be set to have the clutch pedal slightly engaged all the time so when the clutch is cold its ever so slightly thinner and when it warms up it engages. There should be 1 or 2 mm's of play in the pedal before it starts pushing on the clutch cylinder
It can't be your clutch pivot fork because if it had wear it would be giving the opposite symptom - not fully dissengaging making it hard to select gears.
Possibly the hydraulic pin which pushes on the clutch pivot fork is set too advanced, there is about 1 mm of play when it is loosened, possibly pull it back a tiny bit then retighten it.
Thats all i can think of

yep - sounds like the clutch master cylinder is not releasing pressure when the pedal is up. Check for freeplay at the pedal and at the clutch slave cylinder. If these are ok remove and dismantle/clean the clutch master cylinder - pressure release port may be blocked.

Hi again,
did all of the above and theres no change. I dont think it is the clutch at all
I had a close look one morning when it was happening and the dizzy was shorting to the intake manifold. After some searching on here i think it is the ignition system thats causing it. So going to replace distributer cap, rotor, leads and plugs
Thanks guys

Little confused here, you state that the clutch is slipping, this would indicate a significant increase in RPM but no additional speed
The cap and intake manifold issue would give you a car that struggled to gain speed with an engine miss so is a very different thing

Yeh the car does struggle to gain speed.
Reason i thought clutch was slipping is that id back off as soon as i feel the shudder to prevent clutch damage and never actually let the revs rise.
