Hi All,

I am after some assistance in replacing the front door speakers. I know how to take the door trim off etc, but to my surpise the OEM speakers are built into a speaker pod.

If you remove the speaker pod, the hole will be too big for the 6.5inch speakers. The only way to get the speakers out of the speaker pod is by cutting plastic etc...which I really dont want to do! lol

So my question is, has anybody replaced the front door speakers in the 380 and what did you do to make 6.5inch speakers fit?

Yes I'm sure this has been done, but I can't remember the user's name. I recall he has a grey/silver 380 but still uses a 3rd Gen Magna pic for his profile/avatar. I remember he did an extensive sound system overhaul, but there have been other people+threads about removing door skins (perhaps in the Encyclopedia thread).
I'll update the other user's name when I think of it (or perhaps someone else will beat me to it).

EDIT: Ricbec was the user I was thinking of.

i put a 6.5in. midrange speaker in my front doors..
the speaker sat in the hole nicely, but the 4 mounting holes were around the outside of the speaker..
i just made some simple little brackets that sit on the speaker surround and a little tab in the mounting hole of the speaker, and it holds the speaker tight when the screw is done up..

pretty simple, took about an hour to make 8 of them, been like that for a couple months, rock solid and not a single rattle.

Does the stock 6 stacker MP3 player come with RCA's for amps?

Unfortunately no buddy it doesnt. Wat you have to do is use the low out-put for your 6x9's to run a hi-low converter connected to an amp and then you can use subs. I have done this and unfortunately I dont have the control I would like for subs...but oh well.

Someone called?

Im your man

Best option for you mate is to get your hands on some 6mm MDF and make a pod out of it - be careful and dont use any thicker than 6mm MDF or you wont be able to get the trim panel back on - i learnt that the hard way and initally has 12mm MDF (2 6mm panels glued together) the trim panel isnt very flexible and will not play the game for you

Any other questions - shoot, i ripped my old 380 apart installing my old system....ohh how i miss it
