Hi everyone,

I have been a lurker on here for some time, but figured it's time to sign up.

I have a problem with our TE wagon. We don't have a remote, so have always used the key to lock and unlock the doors. Recently, the key stopped unlocking both doors and will only lock the passenger door(luckily the tailgate still locks/unlocks when I lock the car!).

I tried a bit of powdered graphite in both locks but that didn't help. I went the the local Mitsubishi dealer and got a new key thinking I must have a worn key. This does not work any better.

Can anyone offer me any advice as to what is the problem and how to fix it or who to take it too (dealer / locksmith ????) if not fixable at home.

Thankyou

take the door trims off and have a look at the barrels.. see if you can see any damage or anything in the way... lucky ur in vic.. you have accesse from help through mis-fix.....madmal might be able to throw you some ideas.

If your driver door lock barrel is like a TJ / TL/TW it will have a switch mounted in a clip on plastic bracket at the end of the lock barrel. As headake said remove the door trim and have a look to see if the switch is still mounted to the end of the lock barrel, the wires (green, red, black) aren't broken / chafed and the connector plug contacts are clean & free of corrosion.
Where abouts in Vic are you?

Thanks’ headake & Magna Diver
OK, so I pulled off both door liners and had a good go over everything mentioned. Unfortunately I still have not solved the problem. Here is a few key points
• When we got the car the key would turn either way in the lock barrel, now both doors only allow the key to turn in the lock direction.
• The driver’s lock does not have the switch mounted on the end of the lock barrel (that’s on the passenger side). I disconnected the linkage off the barrel but still could not get the key to rotate both ways. With the linkage disconnected lifting it up and down in the cental locking unit did not activate the central locking.
• I checked all the plugs I could on both sides, sprayed the barrels with INOX. Cannot see anything obvious.
Anyone got any suggestions what to do next?
I live in east out near Knox. Where is mis-fix madmal based?
