I believe this don't come standard on the third gen unless you have a verada but if you got the loom and want to hook it up to a magna, where do you tap the wires to? Has anyone done this mod before?

Ignition light, do you care to elabourate exactly what you are referring to bud as I am not aware of what you are calling an ignition light. Cheers

I believe it is the illuminated ring surrounding the ignition switch, that comes on when you unlock/open the door so you can see where to put the key after the lights go out.
I can't say whether the loom would already be included for this, but either way there's a chance it would be part of the BCM/BEM.

If the OP means the illumination ring around the ignition key, its a surprisingly simple mod to achieve in a 3rd Gen Magna.
There is a space/hole moulded in the rear of the illumination ring, which take a T5 wedge bulb-holder - get this bulb-holder and some loom from a wreck (ashtray lamp would be ideal). To place this lamp, its easiest to remove the lower-panel below the steering column, and then remove a metal/foam block which is secured below the ignition barrel with a couple of screws. If you pull the electric mirror switch out you will have a good view of where you need to be working.
Some folks have tapped into wiring at/near the BEM, others have followed these wires down to the junction block (its above/behind the drivers footwell fuses). In my case I ran wires up into the drivers A-pillar - cos there is plenty of room to work there to splice the ignition key lamp into the wiring going to the room lamp. This gives the advantage that key-ring lamp operates with the interior/room lamp..... so remote unlock of doors = key lamp on. Open a door = key lamp on. When key in ignition and key turned, lamp goes out. Get out of car and lock doors = key lamp fades out with interior lamp.
I know other members have wired differently (as for key lamp on with park lamps etc), but in-synch with the room lamp is best option IMHO.
Oh, and BTW - T5 LED bulbs work very well in that spot..... I now have a red ign key lamp to match my TJ Sports' red dash dials etc.
There were good threads in here describing this better - I just followed the lead of others in doing this mod.

Thanks Phil for the info. I got my loom out of a TR Verada (assuming that it is the same in the Third Gen) and thought there must be a plug in the third gen that the loom goes into.

Madmagna may have more-specific advice..... I added this lamp into my dad's TJ Exec and also into my TJ MY02 Sports - I think the Exec needed to tap into the A-pillar, the Sports "may" have had a spare loom connector under the dash. Mal (Madmagna) has a very good knowledge of dash looms and what model car came fitted with what loom.
With the ignition barrel lamp I honestly cannot remember - I know my TJ (02) Sports had connectors for footwell lamps taped back in the loom and that the TJ Exec completely lacked loom for footwell lamps. (Just as an example, the low spec cars have simplified looms which in some cases allow Verada goodness to be added and in other cases do not).

Cool thanks Phil I might just tap it to the footwell lamps. Sounds much easier
