View Full Version : Buying A Supercharged AWD Verada
Hey guys. Im going to look at a 03 kj Verada AWD supercharged tomorrow. Is there anything i should be looking out for as this is the first time I'm dealing with a supercharger.
I've already got a list of questions but other peoples opinions would be appreciated.
Any suggestions would be great.

What sort of supercharger? Assume it will be a Sprintex. Given Sprintex themselves admit they couldn't building the system the way they wanted due to restriction placed on them by MMA hence they couldn't get it cool enough, might be worth getting a naturally aspirated (no super charger) and have a chat with RPW as to how to boost the power.
If your heart is set on the supercharger, look out that the oil has been changed regularly (look for proof) the belts are serviceable (every 5,000 on the drive belt on a Sprintex), there is no bearing noise from the supercharger, the car actually drives better than a standard car, if not it may well be the CAT has had a melt down. We have several gen threes around here one with the supercharger... our saying is the standard Magna is for the Weekdays, the Ralliart is for the Weekends and the Sprintex well it's just Weak..... but highly collectible!

I was doing some research on this when mine went on - and my results turned up the belt needs changing more like every 50,000km for the Sprintex drive.

It's the oil every 5000k not the belt...LOL
Listen for main bearing noises when the engine is absolutely cold.
If you can get it dyno'ed before buying, then do it.

hey your saving yourself 7 to 10 grand straight up... okay oil leaks, check the dip stick and make sure the oils black and not screamy, rev and see theres no huge knocking on cold strat.
check exhaust to make sure theres no blue smoke... Bad if so, if black not so bad, just means its rich and the air fuel ratio is higher then normal.. ummm blue means leaking piston rings or oil is leaking through the chranger
hand break, brakes, wheel alinement, just normal stuff
Can i just add if you do have problems, dont stress... magna motors are cheap to buy cheapest around 650 bucks and can be install for around a 1000.. even if you have to do this your still 6grand in front... play it smart, and make sure theres nothing oweing on the car
GOOD LUCK :P i reckon your on to a winner
Thanks guy for all your help and advise.
Greatly Appriciated.:facejump:
