hello, does anyone know whether or not there's a standard mounting points for throttle bodies, eg what's the likelihood of picking up a larger t/b from the wreckers somewhere and just bolting it on? any thoughts?

also, has anyone hone their intake manifold themselves before (so called porting and polishing).

i picked up a second hand 70mm throttle body off a fellow member here a couple of months ago, i think its a great mod and i have enjoyed the difference it has made. for finding one at the wreckers, i wouldnt have a clue but i doubt it. Best bet would be to try and buy one second hand off here i would say

you wont get one at the wreckers, even if one was bored out, the wreckers wouldnt know.
i think there will probably be a few for sale when the new twin t/b's from rpw come out and some ppl upgrade.

I also wouldn't mid getting my hands on a 70mm throttle body, the more power the better. Where did every one get their over sized throttle bodies from? I was under the impression that RPW only did the high flowed units, not the over size aswell?? Can some one shed some light on this topic?

RPW used to do the oversized TBs but had problems with sticky butterflies and couldn't ever get a spring strong enough to cope with cruise control models.. or something like that. Now they only make the high-flowed units.

Ah ok, it all makes sense now. Thanks for the info.

my old Twin Throttle body is still lying around ready to be picked up.

"I" could adapt piping to make sure it uses the single MAS(?) unit the stock ecu has. but your gains would really only be seen on a car equiped with a greddy or higher..

if your intrested in this TB or for more info, PM me.

RPW made only 3 Over Sized 70mm Units

I ended up with one of them, and it went with the car, there are two others out there, one i would say is on MBQuarts car.

Nick - EuroAccord - done some work on making a 68mm T/B and it worked rather well from memory - he would be the man to talk to about getting a larger unit.

Just to clarify, I didn't get about doing that after the Stage 2 Cams made by a certain company in QLD for another one in WA stuffed the car up... Sorry about that... but it was all planned out.. sadly.. not executed..
PM replied to SexedTF'n about the 68mm TB :)
