Just bought a magna VRX and took out stock radio to change it over but couldn't find adapter plug so i don't have to cut original wires (looked in all super cheap and straithfield stores around northern suburbs) and then tried putting it back.. now when i try turn it on it just says 'code'.. Don't change if i try enter or hit a button.. Tried taking plugs out again and putting them back but same thing.. Tried waiting 2 hours before trying again, however nothing.. i have code, just can't get past the "CODE" message.. anyone have any ideas b4 i take it to Mits dealership?

It wants the security code entered to it - as the power has been disconnected to it.

Enter the code correctly and it will work again.

Do you have your handbook still? The code should be there.
EDIT - along with the proceedure of how to enter the code to the radio.
If you dont have the code, you will need to present to a Mitsu service department with your car, and they will be able to give you the Code from your VIN number.
Cant just phone up and ask for it - its a security thing obviously!

is it the same radio that came with the car?

You can definitely get them.. Alberts in WA have them... but don't goto super cheap/strathfield.. find a more professional car audio place.

If you're really stuck I can source/post some to you.

(and yes, you can get the code from mitsu with your VIN)

I just put the code, in 0000 didn't show up before. all 4 numbers didn't show up either, one at a time and when the last one was entered my radio worked!

ok, so if my code is 1730, do i hit the number '1' once, number '2' 7 times, number '3' 3 times, etc..?

EDIT: tried above and it didn't work..

You can only try a few times then the headunit locks itself out and you can't enter codes. To obtain your code you need to go into a Mitsubishi service centre, they won't give it out over the phone. Once you've barred the headunit though I'm not sure what the procedure is, I'd just go down to Mitsubishi and ask.

In my 2000 TJ Sports the entry of the radio security code is not difficult.
Turn ignition to Acc - Radio will prompt with 'CODE'
Enter the code as it appears in your handbook
Voila!

None of this 0000 or '1' once, number '2' 7 times, number '3' 3 times nonsense. Just enter is you would your pin for your ATM card.

hey all... so i got the code entered.. i had to hold the 'disp' button down to allow the '0000' display to come up.. However while i got attention.. wondering if anyone knows how hard it is changing stock antena.. or replacing the mast. The mast wasn't coming down all the way so instead of trying to oil it, i went and bought a replacement mast but can't for the life of me fit it in.. It just gets stuck, so i removed the whole thing and unscrewed the part that winds it up and the teeth don't actually match up so it doesn't catch (with new mast..), then i tried putting back old mast as it was getting late, but it just won't go back in.. there is a ball on the end just just gets stuck, tried forcing it in, but no luck. I don't wanna have to buy a whole new antena - they are $140 or something!!

I have a spare genuine aerial here, PM me if interested.

Did you sort out the radio code issue?

Yes that's the correct way. Are you sure you have the correct code?

Hmm.... how do you enter 7,8,9,0? I don't have those numbers on my stereo.

You may have trouble finding a Eonon adapter to fit.

Your best bet would be to find a JB/Autobarn store that sells the Aerpro wiring adaptor (http://www.aerpro.com.au/list.php?cat_name=harnesses&cat_no=10&cat_sno=)for Mitsubishi's and mate that with your Eonon wiring harness - then you will not have to cut the factory loom.

I am able to make a plug and adapter for you if you wish

I will need the wiring that plugs into your new head unit, I can then mod another plug that will plug into your std head unit

The adapter plugs from places like JB are rubbish as they go through several plugs and generally do not work long due to the poor quality

yeah, u use the numbers 1 - 4 and then more times you repeat pressing them the digit goes up.. so if your first number is 7 for example, you hit the #1 7 times.. if its '0' u don't touch it.. then u press 'disp' and its all good!!
