Hi guys. Does anybody know anything about stock TE/TF central locking alarm systems?
What I want to know is:

Is there a separate computer/receiver for the central locking remote or is it all in the one alarm computer?

Any info or pics appreciated :)

Hi mate,

I believe the alarm is part of what is called the body electronics module or body controller module. Basically this is a control unit that handles a vast majority of chassis electrical components, inlcuding immobiliser, central locking and alarm.

TE/TF doesnt have a BEM, it has a reciever module, for the central locking, its located near the fuse box in the the divers foot well

So does that mean it only controls the central locking and nothing else? Just thinking of getting an aftermarket unit fitted as I dont have a remote for the car at the moment.

just buy a remote from your local dealer parts centre, $70 ish, you can program it yourself.
do a search, there is plenty of info posted on the site

There was a problem with it and previous owner disconnected wiring, want to make sure if anything is missing, because its plugged back in and doesnt work. Anyone know the method to recode the central locking remote?

turn your key between acc and on 3 times in sucsession and your harzards should flash, push a button on your remote and they should flash again, DONE

Turn key to accessories 3 times and the indicators will both flash. Then press unlock, lock or boot (you will need your door closed). Can do it for a maximum of 3 remotes IIRC. Also, if you wish to go aftermarket you can buy remotes that replace the standard keyless entry, however you can also install an alarm "upgrade" which will save you some work.

Ok thanks guys... it appears the receiver module is kaput. If I source another one do you guys think it will work with my existing remotes/locks etc.?

cheers

If you source one from a TE/TF (TF has the 3 button remote, pretty sure TE has one button IIRC), install it correctly I cant see why not and if you follow the programming process. I've been given peoples old remotes when theyve sold their car and easily programmed them for my car. As for locks, I'd get a professional to install it but don't know of any obsticle.

Yep that does make sense. Is there a difference from TF to TH systems?

The TE/TF systems are completely different to the TH/TJ systems. I think if you search "auto window up when locking" theres a heap of info with regards to the factory systems.

Guy selling a "BCM" which says "receiver assembly" on ebay... says that each BCM is coded to a particular ignition barrel meaning they cant be swapped without swapping the ignition barrel... is this guy right?
