I'm in need of a suitable engine builder/re-conditioner that knows his/her way around an AWD engine and gearbox set up. I have decided to supercharge. So now its time be build! Any help would be great !

G'day,
I'd speak to some of the others who have supercharged their engines, Wookie and Apricot Rocket come to mind. In regards to the gear box I believe they are rated to 500NM, coming out of the Lancer EVO's I think they would be built for a little more power & Torque then the standard Magna can output. If you need them re-built try a Lancer EVO specialist.

Cheers

the 'box should be fine with a tranny cooler on it.

when you're talking about engine builders it depends on where in NSW you are. if you're near Sydney maybe TZABOY can point you in the right direction, although I think he's done a lot of the rebuild work himself. if you're closer to Canberra I can give you a builder here. he does good work, but you might have to wait for a while.

also depending on how serious you are going, look for pistons and rods out of the US (especially with the AUD so strong). you should be able to get forged pistons to suit 6G74 for around $1000 delivered, and the rods about the same (obviously dependent on what sort of spec you're looking at).

do some research on cooling as well. I recommend some kind of cooling for anything more than about 6psi of boost. WI might work up to 10psi, but above that you're going to need extra cold stuff!

cheers,

What type of supercharger are you considering? Centrifugals generate less heat than PD blowers and can run more boost unintercooled. But you WILL need to fuel richer to keep your internals from melting and pull more timing (less power) for boost above 7psi. Stacky has the 9psi pulley at 7000rpm fitted to his 3.5 with forged goodness and no intercooler. I have the same and am procrastinating over finishing my water-to-air intercooling. BJ31OS had water to air, Sky-na has FMIC air-air, all on centrifugals. I expect to run 14psi comfortably on forged SPS slugs, stock 22mm neck conrods (they are forged from the Factory) do NOT use the skinny 17mm conrods (do a search and there's some wholesome info in a thread about 12months ago). Argo forged conrods made as a direct copy of the 22mm factory items weighed EXACTLY THE SAME! So save your money. Sprintex kits as we all know add fueling and charge cooling via an additional injector. RIPP in the US do likewise.

Where in NSW are you located and are you getting an old motor to rebuild or did you score a new short block from the Mitsi Clearance centre too?

Alternatively for $16000ono you could own my car with the motor and supercharger already installed and running. Food for thought.

The idea was to buy a complete engine from Misti center and swap out the original engine for the build. However, Misti clearance center has gone ? hasn't it?
I have got my self a near new commodore twin scroll charger. This is my starting point, as for fabrication wiring and the like I've done it all before on fours, straight sixes, V8's and rotaries . But have all been turbo conversions. The reason for the supercharger on this car is to get the potential torque from the boost to the ground at 1000rpm on

Apricot Rocket has been running his 5sp auto for a while now with no gearbox problems. It would be putting out a fair chunk of torque too so it is standing up well to the abuse.

@ lookout, I got my engine done at a place in Seven Hills that was recomended to me. Was very happy with the work they did and the engine is great. I am not running any cooling but have plans to do so and the tune is not pushed so fairly safe so to speak.

@ cybermonkey, yes dont jinx me and whats this abuse you speak of, i know of no such thing.
