Hi All, first post,

cheers

A few guys have done it in the US.
Best to use the search function first. You'll find a lot of information on it.

There have been DOHC conversions done here however I am not aware of any AWD conversions anywhere given the vast difference in the floor pans

I can't imagine it'd be that different. It is possibble to have a floorpan out of a diamante AWD or even sigma AWD but the issue would be to find one.

Else there was something once about using the floorpan from an Australian RWD sigma to make the magna's RWD. Unsure about AWD tho.

the rear end of the frnt wheel drive and awd 1G diamantes (our 2g magna/veradas) are vastly different.

There is no way short of a cut and shut you could do it other then buying a awd chasis and fitting it out

The chassis of the diamante I have is very similar to that of a 3000GT which they CAN do AWD conversions to. To a TR-TS Magna sedan, as Lynel said, nothing short of a cut and shut.

There has been a TT 6G72 DOHC conversion in NZ Still FWD.

Easiest is to convert to a 6G72 DOHC. I've done that now, but makes it alot easier when the motor was factory fitted lol

Cool guys,

wasn't asking about involvement, wouldn't ask how to do this sort of thing on a forum, this is what i do,
I'm sick of cops and commodores and skylines, no cop seems to notice a sec gen driving along speeding or not.
So .....

original question was if anyone knows of it being done in Australia. Aiming to try and be slightly unique.

Cheers to those who understood my original question,
Cheers to the rest for trying.

Cool, I have read about people who "thought it would be cool", but haven't been able to find any indication of it being done, Just hated the idea of doing a conversion and then finding out, hey look there's one in Perth ect..., would crap me big time.

As far as research into making it an AWD and work involved, had looked at the cut and shut as you put it but decided on keeping to TS as un hacked as possible. Plus have a mate who does Custom Diffs who said he'll do it just cause it would be funny. Or maybe he ment it would be funny to go GT-R hunting.

Love the Sec Gens.

310***kms+ and 6000+rpm , then wait for bang, then tell missus, it just started to make a funny noise, I don't know what happened, and that panel is smashed cause of a kangaroo i swear.

i know you have a tangible specimen in your hands tuffy but from my readings i was under the impression the fwd diamantes had the same floor pan and suspension setup we have in our 2nd gens im well acquainted with my 2g and know for sure there would be a lot of floor fab to be done just to mount everything and thats with out getting the 4wd gearbox and in there

ANyways, if the OP goes ahead with it i would be my bottom dollar it hasnt been done yet....because the only people who would have would be from countries that got the 4wd diamante locally delivered; ie: no need to do it

Lynel, looking at my Japanese Diamante brochure now, (So I can confirm and I'm not seeing things :P) The 4WD version got Double Wishbone suspension in the rear and the FWD with 4WS got Multilink rear suspension

yeah i knew the 4wd got full independant suspension but i forgot about the 4ws versions. they would have a usuable subframe mounting system, still not straight forward but a lot more usable in this situation
