more like the HSV E2 idea... where by the LEDs are in the bottom section of the front bar rather than part of the headlights.... its alright, looks evil at nights... i'd be tripping out wonder what the heck is coming up behind me

Looks REALLY cool!

I always loved the look of the LED running lights on Audis, then Mercs and everyone else started doing it.

Very classy :)

I was thinking about this on the way home - after being followed by a New Merc E Class (i think?) Coupè - it had these lights.
How legal are they to be fitted to these sorta cars? (380 / magna / verada)
Being that the magna / verada / 380, never left factory with them?

Being that they are white lights facing forwards, that should help keep them legal right?

EDIT - you need LED park lights in your headlights now - they look orange in comparison to the LED park lights you fitted!

Needs paras!

Well not quite, it needs "zenon white" LED parker globes. T10 wedge, plenty on Fleabay, I have a set in mine. Go for the bigger more powerful ones with multiple LED 'panels' (whatever the glowing bits are called!).

Whoops, beaten to it by doddski, gotta learn to type faster.

The ones that Mecha has linked to are IMHO a bit weak, but they will fit.

The ones that maggie has linked to are much more powerful but they are 12mm across and might not fit through the housing.

I've got something 'in between', will post up the eBay page a bit later.

They may be weak but are focused and the best looking by far LED parkers

I have over 10 different styles of T10 LEDs in a box ATM for all sorts of different areas of my cars

There is a whole thread just on the parkers here

They are wired to a switch at the moment, although eventually I might wire it to accessories so it comes on with the ignition

Heres a pic fellas. Looks pretty dodgey at the moment, blame that on like 10 seconds to place it before the glue set (and my general dodgeness :facejump:), ill be redoing it soon to get it perfect.

Those fitted to the AUDIs, Mercs and HSVs are DRLs and are lower wattage (equivalent to 35W) and not standard headlights. You cannot have more than one set of headlights on at a time.

To be honest because I rushed it and dont know anything about wiring haha. They are attached with locktight (cant remember exact type) but this isnt heat proof apparently so I have to get sikaflex 295 I think it is and redo it

They are a complete plastic strip with the leds enclosed in so theres no way the water can get in. The wires actually slid in very easily between the black foglight surround and the bumper which is all hidden by the light so from the front and even the side you cannot see any wires.

That should look shmick Mecha. I was going to do it in the bottom of the headlights by taking the headlights apart but after reading whites experience I don't think I could bother to go to that extent lol.

Mecha-wombat

I wont open my headlights up either

there is a type of SMD LED that emits the light sideways so I will run it between the bar and the head light as i am going to be pulling the front end apart to fit my globes

I've been thinking of sticking one of those on the upper curve of the headlight between the bonnet for some time now. Only worry is if the heat from the headlight will damage the LEDs.

very true that is why many LED DRL are under on the lower side of headlight assy

have tryed putting your hand or temp probe there after a night time drive with the lights on??

With all the talk of fitting led to the front of our cars, here is some that i fitted a while ago, they are quite bright, but, really, when i was driving around with them on during the day,it felt a bit wankerish and then at night, the straightness of the led didnt match the circular lights of the paras...

...and the reason why the fog lights look "funny " is because in this shot, they actually have led's in them as well...:woot:

doesnt matter much now as i have h.i.d's in all the lights now..and despite the poo poo about hid,i love em.....

looks very shmick when turned on, but when its off, it looks so bodgy... I wouldnt mind looking around to see if there's a "twinkle controller" kitset or board you guys can use so the light isnt just switched on, but also slightly flickering depending on music, or maybe just a random pattern. when I saw twinkle, i dont mean strobe, I mean like the twinkling of the stars. something that'll weird people out when they see the LED's from a distance
