Hi guys

I have a KH verada 3.5L, and i am a longtime lurker of these forums.

A couple of years ago I had the whole exhaust system replaced including Pacemaker extractors and sports muffler.
Unfortunately I can't remember the diameter of the piping.

I'm finding excellent torque above about 4000 RPM, but while accelerating during normal driving the car feels sluggish.

I would like to have more torque down lower in the rev range for regular daily driving. I don't mind if it is reduced at higher revs.

I also wouldn't mind quietening down the exhaust a bit more. Its quiet when cruising, but accelerating produces much more noise, particularly around 2000 RPM. I prefer to hear the sound of the engine, not so much from the exhaust.

I have searched and searched and there is a lot of confusing information but, not being mechanically minded, I don't really understand it all.

Are there any simple suggestions?

it might be a bit extreme to fix your issue but my two suggestions would be firstly a manual conversion, it makes you the car feel more torquey in my opinion, and also maybe a steve knight tune. Both of which would be time consuming / expensive for you seeinf as steve is in Adelaide.

Put a standard muffler back on to increase back pressure.

This is a very common problem according to my exhaust guy. Young blokes wander in, demand a big loud exhaust system and drive away with less torque and a power band that has moved out of the useable range for an auto.

Another possibility is keep sports muffler and add a standard centre muffler.

Easily sorted, back to the exhaust shop you go.

i got alot more tourque under low revs and moderate acceleration by advancing my cams. did wonders for low end torque, Alan j also said it gives you about 30-40% more torque under light acceleration, so it goes like you are flooring it when you only have the throttle about 1/3 depressed.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Its probably cheaper for me to look at exhaust options before thinking about changes to the engine.

you will get such minmal gains from changing your exhasut setup it will not be worth the money....save up and get some adjustable cam gears and maybe ralliart cams or stage ones, and advance the cams gears.

Search for the Alan Tj note about advancing the cam timing and getting rid of the inbalance between the front and rear cams.

OEM the Magna has a dumb amount of cam retard. Alan advises to file a measure amount off the cam gear holes.
This will advance the cams and achieve a bucket load of low down torque.

Else head off, port and inlet diameter reduce, special cams then a trip to SA for a SKR special tune.
