The engine in my KS Verada is turning from a nice smooth V6 to a diesel sounding like engine, most probably because I love revving quite often. Anyway I think it's time to change the lifters/HLA's. I can get parts on ebay for around $100, but have never done the labour myself. I thought I could give it a go when I saw a detailed and pictured DIY on here a while back, but I can't seem to find it??? Did I see it somewhere else???

Otherwise, what reasonable cost would I be looking at to get it done at a mechanic?

And while i'm here, I noticed my left inner CV boot has disappeared and spread grease everywhere, and I guess will need replacing. I thought it was probably just worth replacing both complete driveshafts rather than replacing other bits as they break. What cost can I expect roughly for parts and labour? Is it easy enough to DIY?

Cheers,
Ollie

Thanks heaps mate, spent ages with Search but couldn't find it! Really think that should be a stick too. Mods... hint hint.

If anyone else has advice for the other stuff, please keep them coming!

I changed the HLA's on my mother in laws TR V6 couple of weeks ago while I was in WA. I can tell you now, it is dead easy to do. Just be lucky you only need to change 12 and not 24!
It only takes an afternoon to do. Also I suggest changing the rocker gaskets also.
The only hassle I came across was putting the rear rocker cover back on, trying not to pinch the gasket.

For both driveshafts your looking at approx $100 a shaft with new outer reco inner. You need a 32mm socket, breaker bar, and lever bar as a minimum to put them in, really quite easy.
