hey guys, has anyone had rear wheel bearings done lately?.. a mate can get them through this work for $155 a corner.. this is about double falcon/commodore price.
is this what the going rate is? or is there somewhere i can get them cheaper? Auto One wanted $236 a corner retail and he said he'd never sold a single one (at that price, i'm not surprised).
if anyone can let me know, the thread can be locked after that.
cheers.

Even fleabay you will pay $150ish each plus postage. Unfortunately this the cost of the units, they are a bearing and hub set up thus the expense.

hey guys, spoke to a mate at a bearing company in cairns, and can get them for $120 for hub/bearing assembly. That is more reasonably priced. bellto, they haven't collapsed, but they screech and whirr constantly. its not tyre noise, as its metallic and brakes are a-ok, so only leaves the bearings (had a fwd car in the past with same thing, so i know the telltale noises). car has done less than 120K so probably shouldn't need doing, but then again, its still 120K..

hey naze, might pay to check the park brakes for the source of your noise. Magna park brake shoes are prone to rubbing whilst driving.

Yes, dismantle and inspect before you buy any parts. A shagged bearing is easy to identify when turning slowly by hand.
