Hi All,
I own a 1990 Magna executive satation wagon. Have only had it for 3 months now and I use it as a daily driver (My real car is a 1970 FIAT 850 Sports Coupe! :D ) The other weekend, one of my (drunken) friends thought it would be hilarious to climb all over my magna. In doing so he slipped down the windscreen onto the windscreen whippers :bash: . At first there was no visible damage but when i next went to use them, they did not work. I checked the fuse box but it was ok. I noticed that when i tried to use them, I could hear the motors turning but still nothing happened.
I would like to fix them myself but before I dive head first into the problem I would like to hear the opinion of more experienced DIY'ers. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? I am guessing it is a broken gear inside the mechanisim.

Great, thankyou very much for that! I shall check that out when I get home tonight!
P.S. By real car, I meant that my magna is not my prized/show car. Rather, it is my workhorse and go camping/anywhere car! I do love my magna because of this :D Sorry if I offended anyone...

A common problem with many makes of cars. The hole in the wiper arm seems to grow over the years, to the point that the spindle no longer grips, even if you tighten the nut. A lot of cars with wipers on the back have this problem. My solution is to take off the nut, position the wiper in the right place, and apply a small drop of superglue to the spindle so it runs down into the wiper blade hole. Put the nut back on. This works even if all the teeth/serrations are worn off the spindle and the wiper arm.
*SOBS QUIETLY* I had a first gen wagon once, but lent it to a friend on a semi permanent basis (ie gave him the car), and the S.O.B. went and sold it. Grrrrr!

*Off topic I know...*
Sold it?!? What on earth possesed him to do that? What a converstation starter though; "hey mate, you know that car you leant me? Well, I sold it!"
Anywho, just wondering if anyone finds that the rear whiper is next to useless. All it does is smear the window and renders it unuseable. Is there any way of improving it? And yes, I have replaced the whiper blade... I may be a noob but I am not that bad :P

Put some detergent in the washer bottle to cut through the grime. Check the angle of the blade to the screen, maybe check the tension of the spring?
Use the washer a lot and it will eventually clear.
Off topic again 8-] That car was my first magna, and such has many happy memories, like the space, smooth ride, willing engine.

hell yeah!
just dont let your mrs change the wiper motor (god bless her for trying), you end up with no intermittent, and have to stop them manually in the right spot lol
