g,day,
Ive got a 92 tr wagon.2.6 carb. my problem is my radiator fan isnt working. a couple of months ago i noticed it not working so i rigged up a switch so when i got in i turned it on and then i started the car. but this became a problem because i forgot to turn it on once. i got to the end of the m5 from liverpool and realised. needless to say i was looking for a second hand motor the next day. anyway i got the motor in, changed the fan cause the wires were cut,and put a reco radiator in while i was there. the fan worked for about a month.then rego ran out and the car was sitting there for another month. now the fan has stoped working again. can anyone give me some ideas to try.
I bought a multy metre cause thats what the book said but i have no idea of how to use it
anyway thanks

ummm not sure if u know, but the cooling fan only turns on when engine temperature rises too high......i've found that now being winter.....my cooling fan hardly ever turns on at all.
if this isnt the case, the actual motor in the cooling fan could be buggered. i picked up a new cooling fan for $20 at a wreckers.

On a lot of motors, are two temp sensors. One for the computer, and another for the fan. The fan will only turn on if the coolant in the radiator reaches a certain temp (and the sensor is usually on the radiator).

I would say the temp sensor on the radiator is f##ked.

maybe try finding the positive and negative wires from the fan motor and just connecting it to the battery to see if it still works..
dunno how easy this is to do on your car but its just a idea that you may have overlooked
