Hey all

Something weird going on this afternoon. Usually when I drive, I lock the doors from the inside, using the driver door lock switch. However when I got home, I couldn't unlock it at all using the lock switch, or remote.

The lock switch is stuck in the locked position, and pressing the remote GREEN button to unlock, does not do anything. The indicators flash as per usual, but none of the doors want to unlock. I can unlock all other 3 doors manually or via key (not from driver side though)

So I climbed out of car from the passenger door and tried the lock on the driver side door, to see if that works. It doesn't. I can't even turn it all the way as there is a lot of resistance. THe other doors also do not unlock / lock this way. However using the key on the passenger side door, unlocks the 3 doors (not the driver side)

Really interesting I thought, and was wondering if anyone out there had a similar issue and know of a way to fix it, without me having to take off the door panel, as it is kinda difficult without being able to open the door....

Had a similar problem with my fiances old CE Lancer. Ended up having to take the inside door skin off as the actuator that operates the locking mechanism on the drivers door was seized slightly. Sprayed a bunch of Inox into it and actuated it a bunch of times and the problem went away.

ok. took off the door trim and had a look. looks like that white electric motor in there has ceased... (where the power connector plugs into)

Might have to get it replaced. Doesn't appear to be an easy way to get to at all. Anyone know / have a spare and know how to replace it?

Weird thing is... I cannot unlock / lock any doors at the moment using the remote control. The indicators are flashing though. Would this cause such behaviour?

i assume it would, as the drivers door is the master lock, and the rest are slaves

Yeah, it would. My fiances did the same thing - wouldn't lock the car with the remote. Sometimes it would lock all doors except for the drivers door.

Have a go at finding a way to get the motor out as it's only an actuator and it shouldn't really break. It'll just need some gentle persuasion.

I would revert to the workshop manual for replacement instructions.

Fair enough

Downloading the manual now, so hopefully it will reveal more. Wonder if mitsubishi sell these actuators....

I'm sure they would.

If it ends up this is the way you go, and the part is expensive, shoot me a PM and I'll get you a trade price.

The handles are held in by 3 bolts, can be undone using a 10mm socket and/or spanner. handle removes from the outside, from there you can remove the locking mech and change it if you please or just have a play around with it.
