Hey guys,
I brought up possibly putting in a pod + heatshield on the Magna I'll be getting and my mechanic mate advised me not to.
He says the power gains aren't worth it because the sudden intake of air (and crap, his words) aren't worth the damage to your engine since it'll be burning lean.
I don't pretend to know jack squat about this so I brought it up here.
Is what he says true? I mean, it seems like every man and his dog goes the CAI route when it comes to NA mods.

your mechanic mate doesnt know what his on about....the pod will not cause ur engine to run lean.. infact the only thing you'll achieve with a pod is some induction roar/noise...

The engine has a myriad of sensors to detect airflow and engine load to determine how much fuel it needs. Stock engine tunes run on the safe side to prevent engine damage so you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
That said, the stock 3rd gen intake is very good and not worth upgrading, in my opinion.

But you said your "mechanic" I always love when a second year apprentice seems to suddenly become a friggin know it all
The only thing you will get with a pod is hot air. Unless you completely box it in of course but is a lot of work for no gain
I have seen dyno results done on the same car, same day etc with pod, k@n panel and std paper, guess which wins

Yeah, I've read all the thousands of CAI threads and the only reason why I'd bother with CAI and Pod is for the sound.
Hektik.
PS: I'll probably not bother, why attract cops for no reason? Especially as a Green P.
