Just thought i would start a topic on this as im interested in different components and always interested in seeing what ppl have to say...
Does anyone know any information about extractors for magnas,
thinking more 2nd gen, but 1st gen or 3gen info is all welcome,
Is it worth it and what will it do for the car its self? etc
increase performance, kw? stuff fuel economy, exhaust note "sound" etc?

I have heard from other guys on here, the extractors for 2nd gens are too expensive and dont do much. Correct me if i'm wrong though. Last I heard, they cost $1000 but they could be cheaper now.

he has a "tuff" Asstron.
1) extractors for the 4cyl will be in the $400 region custom made. Traul wreckers as much as you can, Gaurantee you'll find a set sooner or later
Increase performance = Not noticeable on a an Astron
Fuel economy = Barely noticeable on an Astron, it'll probably be louder, and you mashing the pedal to hear it more will offset whatever fuel savings there were
Exhaust note = would change a bit, not much
PS, You could spend $15K on that TR of yours, would still not be as tuff as mine as much as you would like to think so :d
Last I checked when I had my KS, there were no ready made extractors for the v6. Went to one place and they reckon there is not enough room to make a decent set of extractors. If you go custom then prepare to spend over $1000 for a set.

RPW make extractors for the TR/TS V6 according to their webpage.
http://www.rpw.com.au/shop/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=1844&category_id=108&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=31
They have had them on their website for a while but i have been wary due the reputation RPW has and I vaguely remember some one on this forum having issues with these extractors many years ago (like they don't fit properly and are poorly made). Looks like they have gotten cheaper though, I remember them being $800 last time i looked.
I think there have been other companies who have made bolt on extractors for tr/ts v6 at one point or another as there is/have been people on this forum with v6 extractors and they have to get them from somewhere. Liverpool exhauts as White mention being one of them.
I have queried exhaust places about getting custom extractors made over the years. The price always starts at $1000 and no one seems very interested in doing it.

The exhaust shop I mentioned in my previous post was referred to by RPW when I was getting them to mod it. This was almost 10 years ago.

Hey he can love it mate, but what he's saying inadvertently is his car is better then mine. Now after all the work and R&D I've done for someone to come along with a stock 2.6L and say it's better is just a joke, catch my drift dude?
if it actually was better, I'd give him props, But I'm allowed to have my head up my ass with all the time and money I've put into the car to make it what it is :) So sorry for getting offended :)

Yeah, I am sure that paul will pop over to any drag strip bud and give you a legal run, I am also sure he would still better your time pushing his car
You are a new member here, you are welcome as a member but DONT HANG CRAP on people who have spent more on a single car than your car is worth or will ever be worth 20 times over.....
Paul simply made a comment about your question on extractors and made a point in order to stop you wasing your cash, he even went so far as to advise you how to get extractors cheaper from wreckers, if you take exception to this well perhaps you need not ask these questions in the first place

hey guys hearing what everyone is saying, i own a 3 ltr TE Magna, my boss owns the one in edwardstown,
28 furness ave, near the castle plaza shopping centre there. I asked him about getting a whole new exhaust system and extractors for my magne and he told me that he could get them for a fairly good price bepending on which model magna you have!!!
i personally work at his other business down in lonsdale (not the other exhaust place)

click that link it will give you the phone number and give them a call and go from there.
if panda tr wants a set of extractors their was a set on a white series 1 magna at upullit lonsdale last weekend. it was in the back row in the chrysler section looked in good nick as well

I just saw an ad on ebay for someone selling performance headers made in Aus for $215 with free postage. Has anyone tried these or know anything about them? Says they suit TM, TN, TP, TR's without air injection?

chinese term for FI? maayyybe, but I dunno
There are 2 available:
$215: maxheaders maximum performance headers, they make a lot of other car types also. 1year warranty.
$299: HiTech Headers, 2year warranty.
Am i allowd to post ebay links to them or will i get myself in trouble?

I think you can because your offering extractor suggestion, if not the mods here are pretty nice and you'd get away with a warning.

I heard there was an engine with an extra valve per cylinder to swirl the air or something? Or maybe it just means forced induction.....
cuppas
13-02-2010, 10:13 PM
as far as i know, my asstron had the most valves per cylinder from factory at 8.
edit- the black one looks press bent, i would avoid it. ask the first guy if theyre mandrel bent

You probably mean the 2.0l dash cyclone engine. 12 valve and had a 5 injector in the cross over pipe. Doubt this is what they are talking about though as that engine was never used in a magna.

Nope, air injection was only used on the carb model, for pollution control - simply means the extractors are for EFI models only.

Headers work and will increase power, but these sort of things work in percentages and because your starting power is under 100fwhp your gains are going to be very little and noticeable, compared to another vehicle with double the starting power so the 2-5% can be felt more. When applied with other mods they work well, I recall mine about 6 years ago costing $500 from a local muffler center.

Thanks mate, first time I've logged into the forums for a year or so, caught up with a friend who had a Magna and mentioned the site the other evening. Relating to the headers, if you stripe the stock ones off and compare them to some decent aftermarket ones they stockers are very restrictive if I recall!
