Hi guys - sorry if Ive put this in the wrong section.

Ive got a 96 TE Exec (the least common magna in the third gen forums it seems =P) and Im wondering how I would go about putting power windows in the front? Really hate having to lean across the car like a dick to open the passenger side window.

No idea where Id start or if its even possible?

Cheers

Iain

hey mate, lots of people sell power electri window conversions for our model cars. You will most likely need to change the harness.
and also, (TE is the best mode:happy:l.)

Wouldn't you also have to change the door trims to ones with the control buttons in them?
Or do you just change the arm rest section?

Being and exec you need the main under dash harness as well as the door harness as well, door trims, speak pods and regs. Is a dash out job to change over

I just finished installing all 4 power windows in my 96 TE advance. most of the wiring was already there, just needed the under-hood relay, door trims, window regulators, door wiring looms and had to run a few extra wires for the rear windows to the door loom. Soooo worth it! Rory's thread on power windows for a TF was very very helpful :)

Woooooo! A mention! :P
Anyway, heres (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67126) my thread when I did my windows, although you must also realise that mine was an advance, so it already had the dash wiring (yours will not have)...
Any questions pm me and i'll try and help! :)

unless you've got cruise control in which case the under dash wiring is already there...

It is not PITA for starters, i did a climate cont conversion in a few hours the other day

If you have a TE, the chances of having cruise are rare and to be honest I have not seen an exec TE with cruise

The conversion is not bad to do, hve done that many I have lost count

To be fair, the first time you do any job like that it'll be a pain in the ass. Everything gets easier with practice. I can do mechanical stuff easily now that would have made me cry a few years ago.

Right here!
I must be the only one or something, because I've never seen any others on here either!
I would like to get power windows going with mine, but I really don't think I could be bothered getting all the bits together.

Did not say that they donot exist, just that I can not remember the last time I saw one. I have seen a few with the factory retro fitted cruise which although made by Mits is a far cry from a fractory unit

Best bet is to check the plug to see if the additional wiring is present
