I have a noise in my front end (TM) that I can't identify and am hoping someone else might have had a similar thing. When I take off I get a noise I think from the front left side. It sounds like it is taking up the slack in something but for the life of me I can't see what.My first thought was engine mounts. I have replaced the front one with an auto (damper) mount but the noise is still there. If I am driving along and put my foot to the floor I get it,if I take my foot off I get it. Any ideas ?

Jack up the front of the car and try to move the wheels, by hand, left and right, and in and out. If there is play left to right, it may be the tie rod or tie rod end. In and out play usually is a worn strut or a very worn ball joint. If you rotate the wheel and get clunks, it is the CV joint, inner or outer. Have a look at the boots, on the drive shafts and the steering tie rods. Get under the car and try to turn the drive shafts back and forth. Listen for clunks, or excessive play in one of the inner joints.
My money is on the inner drive shaft joints.
