i would have done it if it was possiable but its not. Ull find its not the lights that make it orange its the actiual plasic. cos the globes are normal white globes but the speed background plasic is a see threw orange if this makes sense

yeh thats why i said different dials.. might make them outa paper :P read a blog on this dude who was doing up a VL in NZ and he made new dials and stuff for himself, he was pretty hardcore but obviously a mechanic and had lots of help doing this stuff to get it real fast like 400rwhp and someone with the interior, was like snow white, must've been blinding in direct sunlight, his white dials and blue lights where mad but.

 i supose you could do a print out its been done many times b4, but ive only see in done like on the gen2-3 where the speedo and tacho is at a different level, but i would have to print the whole thing and it would look weird lol

you could scan it and then play with the colour of photoshop then print it at the same size as it was scanned onto that clear plastic stuff that they use for over head projectors , and theneput something behind the bits that u dont want the light to come out of ..? just a thought

He means use the original as a template, then print out a new face using acetate. Then mask of all the areas you don't want the light to shine through.

On another dashboard note. Converting to digital instrumentation, can somebody do a step-by-step for the average layman (Err, so I can understand)

hmm this has got me thinkin  .... when i got some spare time i might clear the dust off of the old scaner and get to scaning, the only problem i have is scaning it, cos the needles would be in the way....ill have to see if there easy to take off. the other problem is the volt meter, cos it sets in that might have to stay black. But if we print it on white paper, i had an i idea of makin like blue round bits 4 the tacho and speedo then it wont look all crap and compleatly white. also i dont know how the orange light will go wit a different colour threw the paper.
Ive got to pop down the wrecker in the next few weeks i might just get the original face/lieing off of a wreck (like pull the dash out and pull the needles out and unstick the original one) then scan that, would be easyer then to take mine out and pull the needles etc..

i reckon it's gunna b very hard to do. i pulled the spare analog dash i have apart. its a special plastic that the dials are made of, around 5mm thick. on the back of it, it has like a white plastic tape or something over all the parts that light up. i tried to take the tape off but, no chance. this could be what makes it orange, not too sure. the needles for the speedo and tacho can be removed, they are a separate unit. (tacho is needle with wiring connected to a small chip-board, like a motherboard but LOTS smaller haha) umm... i spose you could do it with a white acrylic. put the magna one over it as a template... would b hard though. as soon as i pulled it all apart i gave up on doing a custom dash. if anything, i'd go to the digital dash.

u could try putting like a blue cellophane or something over the back part of it. dunno how well it'd go. get a junk one and do the cellophane thing and try it. never know, could work.
