Ive been noticing recently a kind of quiet shudder coming from my front left wheel... I can feel it vibrating through the car and its definately coming from the left hand side of the car.. Its a sort of 'Duddeerdudderr' noise (But isnt really that fast, more of a slow shudder/noise...)
Its really hard to explain, like its not really a shudder like driving over corrigated roads, its like a really soft shudder....

It can be heard/felt at basically all speeds, but is definately more noticeble when driving slowly...

I changed to kind low springs a few months ago (Didnt have this problem when they were first put in) and kept the stock shocks....

I also read in another thread that it could be the strut bearing plate?

Anyways, what do you guys think?

Anybody know the symptoms of a spring that isnt installed properly?

when was your last wheel balance? Although it sounds more like a squared off tyre/buckled rim

Less than 6 months ago..... thats when I bought the rims/tyres and got the alignment. I have a free alignment that I can use, but would prefer to use it in a week or two as im prob gonna take off the wheel and spring to see if thats the problem....

The noise is really weird, its almost like a loud rattle (Almost like the shockie is pumping and down the whole time and making a noise each time it does it..)

Ive also noticed when I push down on the front of the car, I feel a little roughness instead of it being smooth.... So pretty sure it has something to do with the spring...

Is there a certain way around the spring is supposed to be installed? (Like is the bottom of the spring, where is ends, supposed to be facing out/in/to the side??)

have you had an alignment since you installed your suspension? Dont take it to bob jane etc, take it to a suspension shop. The tyre shops cant do a full alignment like the suspension shops can.

Yeah man, had it installed just before the alignment.
Serious? Ohhh paid like $50 to have it aligned at bob jane.... :( Well im gonna use the free one before I fork out more money to have somebody else align the wheels.... Still gotta make sure it is the alignment before I get it aligned again otherwise I will have to take the wheels off and knock it out... :(

Ok Im pretty sure my shockie has gone. When I press down on that side of the car, it makes a squeeky sound and I can hear like water sorta compressing (Im guessing the fluid in the shock)

A post I found in another thread

I found that the clunks in mine were due to worn out strut tops. Replaced them and no more clunks.
Strut tops are worn when you pop the cap off where the top shock nut is and look around and you see lots of grease. Thats busted and when you remove the top to look it is squashed, like this;
The one on the right is the worn one out of my car, and the left is the new one;

You can clearly see the difference between the two

Under both of my caps is grease.... From this post im guessing its bad....

Might need to buy some strut mounts along with new struts...

Hmmm.... I have a similar sort of noise that sounds like it's coming from the left front. Hardly notice it when I'm on a good smooth road, but when on anything else it's there. Mal is holding some King Low's for me, I'll get him to take a look at the strut tops. Can't complain if they've lasted 12 years...

Regards, Tony

Pretty sure the noise isnt from my strut tops (Even though they obviously need replacing). I get the clunking, but I think thats a different issue to the one I originally posted about... :(

Just been out there again, pushing the left side of the car down lots of times and the water noise gets louder, so its definately a dodgy shocky..... All of the other shockies are quiet when pushed down... So new shocks for me!

Anybody know how much it would be for a set of KYB or Boge shocks? Im been trying to find prices in shockie threads but cant find any mention so far....

Edit: And now that I think of it, when I was installing my springs I pushed a shockie in and it did take a while to decompress..... this was probably the dodgy one....
