hey im just wondering on my 03 tj awd what would be needed to return the brakes back to single piston?
apart from the caliper and rotor is there nothing else required to put a tf magnas brakes on to the tj awd?
Firstly I'm wondering why you would want to do this and second I wonder if it is legal to -REDUCE- the braking capacity of a vehicle from manufacturer original design - they upgraded the brakes on the AWD for a reason.
If the caliper mounting bracket is the same, then it should be straightforward - just read up about someone's AWD brake upgrade to their FWD Magna, and reverse the process.

Why would you want to do that?
For one you would be reducing your braking ability by downsizing. The AWD's are a heavier car and need the brakes they have.
But to answer your question, the mounting brackets are the same and I think the brake line connection is the same also. Your going from 294mm down to 276mm and losing roughly 50% of pad area too.

thanks guys my brother just wanted to know because he wants my setup and he wants to trade me :) not happening but
with a decent set of pads and rotors, the single piston setup would be fine on the AWD if you dont intend to tow or carry heavy loads. The difference in weight between the two is about 200kg, which is the same as a carload of people and my old single piston setup never struggled with that. Either of the two brakes will stop you on your arse if given a good stamp, but repeated heavy braking is where the twin piston caliper comes into its own.
