Noticed this the other day, it generally only happens when im turning left, between 30-50km's and it sounds like a circular motion so it's leading me to believe its something to do with the brake pad/caliper? But it doesn't happen when i brake..

Pull that wheel off and see if you can see any evidence of scraping etc. Also, go for a bit of a spin and do some left-handers - then check if the hub of that wheel feels warmer than all the others (I'd be worrying about wheel bearings in this scenario).

Also consider handbrake shoes, could pop out the centre console bin and have a look at the equaliser bar on the handbrake cables (this might show you nothing at all - but it that doesn't look "balanced" it might indicate something with cables/shoes on one side over the other).

Hubs are all around the same heat.

An update on the situation: The noise is starting to become a-bit more drawn out, instead of its quick 0.1-1 second squeaks they're drawing out to pretty much a constant, and when i apply the brake the noise stops, which has got me confused because if it was something stuck between the brake pad/caliper than wouldn't the noise come on when the brake is applied?

Possible cracked CV joint or CV joint related issue.

This happened to me exact same noises heard also.
Whilst my car was still very driveable it paid to get mine replaced asap so as to not cause further damage to the steering and alignment.

Hope this helps in anyway

If I have read it right op is talking about rear wheel so no cv issues there. Would be looking at rear hub bearings for starters. Also check the backing plate for signs of damage, scrape marks etc. If hub bearings the noise will stop/lessen when brakes are applied simply because the pad/caliper combo will bring the disc back into line. Had same problem in my old crummyhore at the front. Replaced the wheel bearings and all good. Also check the rear disc for excessive runout/warp as this can also cause a similar noise sometimes. As Elwyn also said check your handbrake shoes as well for possible damage.

Oh crap, I have the same issue in the front of my TH (300,500kms) ... Was hoping it wasn't bearings as it doesnt seem cheap to fix...

Life. just had a quick look at the w'shop manual for your car. Your right aint something i would try in the back shed for sure. Maybe have a look around the wreckers close to you for lower mileage hubs.

If the noise goes away under brakes it really sounds like a wheel bearing to me

are your wheel nuts tightened?

i had a similar issue and it turned out to be loose wheel nuts...

try and *slightly* bend the brake dust cover backwards toward the engine. mine used to screech and rub on some obviously moving part only when I turned left and it turned out to be the drivers side dust cover.

Apparently it's the 'tags' on the brakes, need new backs asap and new fronts in 2000~kms, getting them both done next week.

So its just new brake pads required? That's a relief then - a relatively cheap service job and all is good!

It's a design feature - lets you know your brake pads are down to the limit. The noise is so painful that you can't ignore it! lol At least it stops dopey diks from grinding their discs into powder. lol First thing to check really! HoHum
